Outerwear is notoriously difficult for independent designers to make. The materials are really expensive and difficult to work with, so it’s hard to justify the effor in small quantities. But Little Houses is a Vancouver indie line that has amazing outerwear options.
The combination of ruffles and plaid on this jacket is killing me softly. The high button neck and hood ensure that you will be kept nice and toasty in this crafty-cute coat. Available for $260 from Little Houses.

Ruffles are totally in. Whether you are going to wear them on a dress, a top, or a frilly skirt I recommend you at least try the look on at the store or order a piece from your favorite online retailer (whatever is your preferred mode of shopping).
I have seen the ruffled shirt look done in very different ways. Whether you’re going to put it together with a cashmere sweater for the first day of class or a blazer for the start of the Fall Work season it’s a great way to embrace the trend and to not go too …read more

Lately, I am totally obsessed by ruffles. High-necked ruffled dresses, ruffle-front shirts, you name it, I love it. I especially like the combination of ruffles with printed fabrics. Bonus points for florals. Here are some ruffled bits of fabric that might make you go a little ga-ga, too.
I am completely in lust with this Moon River Dress. It has a totally nutso boho print, and scads of ruffles for me to fall in love with. The shape of this dress is perfect for us pear types. All that ruffleage up will balance out an ample bottom half. The only thing …read more
JCPenney Sale Makes Me Crave Ruffles

JCPenney has me craving ruffles, and I’m not going to try to hold back because of little things like “fashion rules.” Yes, I might be busty, but these two shirts are soooo spring-y and adorable, and I could care less about wearing something streamlined and classic at this point! I think I’m going to pick my shirt up in “Adventure Pink,” which complements this shopping excursion so perfectly.
