The Miu Miu Round Toe Lattice Pumps ($590) have the traditional platform pump shape but what makes it stand apart from the rest is the lovely shade of beige. It’s also available in black (Nero) if you prefer.  The lattice detailing makes these shoes quite sexy.

This is definitely the type of heels you should wear with just about any outfit. The neutral colour will go with everything from jeans to party dresses.  One way to dress these down is to wear them with a simple outfit of jeans, a white tee, grey cardigan.  The heel measures 5″ but the hidden platform is at least 1″ so in reality it’s a wearable 4″.

Some designers are showing very restrained collections with neutral palettes…

And some have not!

The bright colors have ranged from more traditional summer colors to some very bright neons – which look even brighter when you pair them with more neon and black.

As you can see from the Dsquared2 finale, neon is going to be a presence for next spring:

Didn’t we do that in the eighties already?  Oh well, runway looks are always more extreme than the real-life versions…

Laura Biagiotti went for bold, bright and girly for her shoes:

I love the combination of the jeweled accents and turquoise color – I have to admit that I’m still not a big fan of fringe on shoes though.  We’ll see how these look next spring!

The Brights Are Back in Milan

The shoes from London Fashion Week are definitely leaning towards the extreme.  Fur, feathers and metal are all showing up.  Unusual heels and carved platforms are parading down the runways.

Roksanda Ilinic went for feathers – lots and lots of feathers!

Underneath all that plumage, those metallic bronze booties are quite cute and wearable.

The Osman runway collection featured some extreme carved platforms:

We’ve seen other “heel-less” shoes before, but they really haven’t seemed to show up on store shelves.  So what’s the opinion?  Interesting runway look or can this actually work in the real world?

Basso & Brooke sent a combination of more traditional high heeled peep-toe mules and some architectural looking heels down their runway:

I love the little dashes of color, like the yellow soles and flashes of blue around the platforms.

Fanciful Footwear from London Fashion Week

Although he has carved quite a name for himself with sexy over-the-knee boots and killer studded flat boots and chunky heels, I am beyond impressed that his more subdued collection – which include flats and ballet slippers – is just as quietly note-worthy, if not more. And I was thrilled to see that he did wonders with my latest fall obsession — the classic oxford shoe.

Fluevog shoes are already known for being some of the funkiest and most unique shoes available, and they want you to get in on the fun as well.

They’ve created an open-ended contest to create “Open Source Shoes” – kind of like open source software.  Once you’ve submitted your design, it becomes part of the public design.  Fluevog may choose to replicate your design exactly, or to use bits of it to create a whole new shoe.  You won’t get paid, but you’ll get lots of free publicity and your name on your creation.
