Wool Party Skirt by LedThread

I guess I’m really into skirts this week. Particularly skirts with pleats. People always say that chics with hips shouldn’t wear pleats, but they’re a) wrong and b) haters. Check out this totally adorable party skirt.
100% wool satin with a silk lining. Awesome. And pockets. All clothes should have pockets.
It also comes in a bunch of other colors, but I am 100% for this rip roaring red. Available for $95 from LedThread.

Drape Sack Skirt by Jo DeMontis

I love how misleading the name of this garment is. You’re picturing a burlap sack in your head and then BAM she hits you with this totally glam piece of sculpture. Check it.
Loves it. This silhouette is amazing and perfect and I wish I had this skirt on right now. And despite how shiny and luxe it looks, this thing is actually made of cotton. Which means that it’s breathable. And it will go with everything from a wifebeater and flats to mary jane stilettos and a lycra bodysuit. Uh huh. Oh yeah. Available for $118 from Jo DeMontis.

Flirty Skirts for Fall and Beyond

Upon assessing my wardrobe this week, I realized I’m in dire need of skirts. Lots of them! I stopped by Forever 21 and found a really cute black and white floral full skirt and fell in love. I’d link to it but they seem to no longer have it on the website.
Fortunately (for me and you!), they have other equally adorable skirts that will look fabulous this fall and beyond.
Brocade Skirt ($24.80)
Satin Tiered Skirt ($19.80)
Mesh Tulle Skirt ($17.80)
Striped Bead Accent Skirt ($22.80)
All of these skirts would look amazing for Fall dressed up or down. Add a simple tee or …read more

In addition to my search for the perfect LBD, I am also on the hunt for great black skirts. Due to the recession, I feel like it’s important to stock up on the basics. Not that basics have to be basic looking! This skirt certainly doesn’t!
I love the combination of the high waist and the short, but not too short length. If you happen to be a bit hip-y, like me, then the traditional length pencil skirt will make you look dumpy, so stay away from anything longer than 20″. The material is 5% spandex so, it hugs you just …read more
High Waisted Burlesque Hobble Skirt

In the 80’s, high waisted hobble skirts became all the rage, especially when worn with peplum jackets with shoulder pads. But these great staples didn’t originate in the 80’s, they’re actually totally 40’s. Seeing them come back in style makes me think that all your favorite 80’s style clothes will go great with things that are even more retro, like this gorgeous hobble skirt by Miss Maisy Brown. Check it:
I love the fit of this skirt. There’s nothing sexier than something that covers you completely and follows all your curves. The fishtail end of the skirt makes it a little …read more
Tulle Skirt by Camilla and Marc

I’m nuts for full tulle skirts right now. I recently bought a tulle petticoat to give all my tea length skirts the volume they deserve, but I also like the look of the tulle all on its own. Check this one:
Of course, you’re going to have to avoid that whole Madonna, Desperately Seeking Susan look (or not?) wearing something like this, but great obstacles have been overcome. I would definitely skip the bow embellished platforms that this model is wearing, and replace them with some over the knee leather boots and either a tee shirt or something silk and light. …read more
Zip Front Peplum Skirt by KILL CITY

I love Kill City. They make the most (excuse the pun) killer jeans and basics. Total rock star style at basically affordable prices. And they make some 80’s inspired clothing that doesn’t look totally washed up, which is refreshing, because if I see another %&^*ing hipster in a stupid neon shirt and black leggings, I’m going to throw an egg at them. Please note: I have nothing against neons, or even hipsters, really. It’s just the hipster/neon/legging combo that gets me on edge. But I digress. (What else is new?)
I am freaking in love with this skirt. It’s black, has …read more

If you thought a simple black pencil skirt without pleats, ruffles, or details was the only option for a classic put together professional look, then you’re mistaken! Take a look at a few of these luxurious black skirts and you’ll be thinking of ruffles and pleats for a very long time!
Rory Beca Tulip Skirt
This skirt has an exposed zipper in the back with waffle detailing throughout and pintucked detailing in the front . The tulip silhouette is perfect for the summer. Maybe hold onto it until April, because we know the saying; April showers bring May flowers. This is $306.

If you missed having a white Christmas last year, take heart – a white spring is on its way. Fashion-wise, at least.
“Where last spring was all about rich colors and luxury, this spring is simpler, crisper, cleaner. And white is a major theme – from your A-line trench coat to your ruffled shirt – as are cousins of the color, such as beige, ecru, bone and nude.
This spring is a white button-up shirt instead of a jungle-patterned shrug. It’s khaki-colored Bermuda shorts instead of tiered Bohemian skirts. ”
It seems that short skirts are out and knee length is in, but …read more
