Paris Fashion Week: Emanuel Ungaro S/S 10

Today was the day. Lindsay Lohan and Estrella Arch’s rushed Spring / Summer 2010 Ungaro collection hit the runway in Paris. Were we going to see a splash of youthful designs that would make all tweens, teens, and twenty -somethings run as fast as they can to Ungaro to pick up the pieces? Critics and fans alike are sadly saying no. The collection was overly dated and in my opinion, really showed the bad side of Lindsay Lohan’s “creative” styling. Lindsay can put together a great outfit, but she can also put together the less desirable looks (a la bandeau bras and tapered pants) that just don’t work. In support of those few times Lohan put together something stylish and wearable, here are a few of the highlights (not low lights!) of the Spring / Summer 2010 runway show.

I love the grey color. We’ve seen lots of metallics this season, but not very many with matte finishes. They’ve all been very shiny and sparkly. This, on the other hand, is more subtle. However, the outfit makes a strong statement with the shoulders of the jacket and the big sunglasses. Can I say I like this one without losing my job?

Hmm. It’s not too bad. The white and pink mix is fun. I’d put a blouse underneath the little wrap. But of course, I live in the real world not the model world, right?

More pink…but I like the dress. The critics are going to say that this is boring and typical. It’s nothing special. Everyone can make this. Lindsay, you’re a disappointment! I’m going to say right now that I could not put this together..and I like it.

This last dress though, I could make and for sure I don’t want anyone seeing my butt cheeks. Definitely do not want anyone seeing my butt. Oh my!

A Brooch By Any Other Name Would Be….

On Friday some friends I went down to this cute artsy part of town for “First Friday” there is always jewelry, clothing, and Louis Vuitton all over the place. My favorite part of the night has to be the jewelry though. I get a kick out of the fake bags, but that’s a part of life.

So, I was wondering around looking for some cute new pieces of jewelry to add to my pile that doesn’t get worn I came across the cutest hair tie ever! It was an adorable colorful costume jewelery brooch just attached the the a scruchie hair tie.

In total I ended up spending $10 on two of them, so it was a steal of deal! If you’re going for a more high end look, and since this is the Luxury section of Splendcity, why not take a piece like this Chanel Turquoise Raffia Brooch, a hair tie, and tie your hair back into a side pony tail? It would certainly get everyone talking!

Nanette Lepore Lemon Jacket

Just because the thermometers are heating up doesn’t mean it is time to put away the jackets! When it gets warm outside I almost get giddy about outerwear. Last year, I had to go on a trip to Detroit when it was pouring rain. What did I buy? A cute little rain coat.

Now, I’m planing a quick little trip to Houston and, it’s supposed to rain again. Yet another jacket is in order! This time though, it’s not just a rain coat, it’s this Nanette Lepore Lemon Ramie ‘Mandeville’ Jacket. It’s super fun and makes me want to dance and sing about the sun and rising temperatures.

The jacket itself has a synched in waist that makes every girl look great. I’m planning on wearing it with a cami. It’s unlined so it won’t get super duper hot either. The zippers on the side give it a little kick of funk too. The jacket comes in black and white as well (if you’re not in to fun colors..). The jacket is $222.

I haven’t quite decided how I feel about matching outfits for mom and daughter. I do know I love fundraising for good causes. So, if you put the two together, like Lily Pulitzer and the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation (EBMRF) foundation have, then I may be a happy camper.

Lily Pulitizer, celeb moms (such as Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Debra Messing, and Brooke Shields) and Neiman Marcus have partnered with the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation (EBMRF) foundation to donate 15% of their proceedes from mommy & me outfits to the foundation.

Lily Pulitzer is always so bright, fun, and happy that I may have to jump on the mommy and me matching outfits when that day comes. Oh, and donate to EBMRF.

Festive Oscar De La Renta Taffeta Dress

If there was ever a time to visit the city of San Antonio, it would be right now. Everyone needs to visit because I will, in my dreams, be walking around the city in this Embroidered Taffeta Oscar De La Renta Dress...everywhere.

However, to be serious…San Antonio is in the middle of an elaborate celebration called “Fiesta.” It’s an excuse to go to lots of parties, over pay for drinks, and of course get dressed up in bright Spring colors.

So, this Oscar De La Renta Taffeta Dress fits the bill. It is a blue and white dress with floral taffeta embroidery throughout that would drive any fellow party goer wild. I am particularly partial to the flouncy skirt.

Are you cleaning out your closets yet? I just stocked up on a fabulous bunch of stuff from Old Navy, and then I did the hard thing: gave away a good deal of other stuff from my closet! I said goodbye to a load of dresses and tops, but at least I know things are going to a good home where they will help people desperately in need of style.

Plus, now I have more room in my closet for this:

Free People is all over the place. You can pick it up at the Free People store, at Macy’s and even at Bluefly.com. However, Bluefly.com is where I found this Black ‘You Are My Sunshine” Belted Jersey dress.

The dress is casual and chic. It’s something I would totally wear all the time. The white sunshine with yellow detail is very cute. And check out that V neck line. Very sexy!

It has ruffle trim with crochet detail around the belt and a short puff sleeve.

Spring is all about shorts, capris, bikinis, camis, and sundresses. But, what happens when you’re stuck wearing the hum drum black pants and button up shirt on a daily basis? How can you spice up your wardrobe without going too overboard?

Flamingos are so retro. They are straight out of the 1950s and so is this dress. It reminds me of an Italian resort dress from an Audrey Hepburn movie with a splash of the new millennium.

This Jean Paul Gaultier Flamingo Convertible Tube Dress has a convertible top with a wide skirt and oh my gosh, it can pulled down and worn as a skirt (!). What a novel idea (lol). I love the intricate detail of the design, it is super luxurious and very resort and cruise like. It is $375 from eluxury.com.

Ladies, I am pleased to announce, my Easter dress. Well, my dream Easter dress (because, to be honest, there are certain parts of my body that will just not fit in anything Betsey Johnson). This Betsey Johnosn Blush Dotted Cotton Strapless Tiered Dress will go with any dyed Easter Egg in the house this season.
