While we’re all gearing up for fall and winter trends, summer shoes are on sale right now.  In fact, you can find some great designer shoes that have been heavily discounted.

While I wouldn’t recommend stocking up on trends from last spring or summer, why not save some money and get some classic shoes?

Classic shoes are the ones that you can wear for more than one season.  They’re a timeless style or color and can work with a lot of different clothes.

How about the black pump?  It’s a timeless wardrobe staple – so why not get a fabulous pair on sale?

Black patent leather peep toe pumps from Guiseppe Zanotti.

Strappy sandals for evening are another classic shoe – these ones are the “Calista” from Michael Kors:

They’re available in both gold and silver.

Simple, neutral sandals for daytime are another easy pick – this pair are from Gucci and feature a small Gucci logo in horn:

Stock Up For Next Season’s Classic Shoes

The Stella McCartney Cloud Print Sandals and Cloud Print Wedges are the epitome of casual, carefree days of fun.  She’ll be able to wear these with shorts and flirty dresses.  They’re designed with the signature Sir Peter Blake cloud print canvas fabric, which are adorable but not overtly childish either. The sandals are accented with gold tone straps while the wedges have a a great leg lengthening effect.  The Cloud Print Sandals are $335 and the Cloud Print Wedges are $425.

Which ones would you pick? Personally, I’d get the wedges because a little height never hurt anyone, plus they’re quite sexy.

Stella McCartney Knows Summer

I’ve noticed a few different shoe designers are constructing large parts of their shoes out of elastic straps.  Elastic does have some benefits – it’s instantly easier to fit a shoe, no more fussing because it’s a half size too small in the heel and too large in the toes.  It’s forgiving to wear and moves with your feet.

There is one downside to elastic though…

Over time, it loses it’s elasticity.  That means that the gorgeous high heels you bought for almost $700 can lose their fit and become saggy.  Yes, leather stretches too – but it’s got a much longer lifespan.

So ladies, what’s your opinion – are Fendi’s elastic platform sandals worth it?

Or how about $670 for Sergio Rossi’s elastic & calfskin sandals?

Elastic Sandals?

There can be one problem for women during the summer time though…

If you’re prone to swelling in your feet or ankles – cage sandals can lead to uncomfortable marks all over your feet.  I’ve even seen some women whose feet ended up puffing out of the teensy little straps.

Check out how fine the straps are on the “Celtic” sandal from Dolce Vita:

Gorgeous – but not always practical.

One option can be to move to a sandal with wider straps.  A little more leather can keep your feet from puffing out of the straps.  The “Phoebe” peep toe sandal from Elie Tahari may be a more comfortable option:

You still get the great woven leather details, but without the marks on your feet afterwards

Cage Sandals for the Rest of Us

Yes, they’re comfy, but if you feel the need to wear makeup or do something other than a messy pony tail with your hair, maybe it’s time to change shoes?

And besides, foot specialists aren’t usually big fans of flip flops either…

Flip Flops or Just Flops?

So, on top of them being sandals, which I adore, they also have some fringe, which is also all the rage this Spring/Summer. They come in blue, black and the transparent white color that just makes them look even more retro. They’re $175.  Soon enough we’ll see these everywhere again! Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I haven’t decided yet.

Blast From The Past: The Jelly Sandal

These slide sandals from Manolo Blahnik sport a chunky series of stones and an easy-to-wear 2″ heel:

Jeweled Sandals for Hot Summer Style

I just got to try out a new product from Spongeables, called “Pedi-scrubs”, that should help keep your feet in strappy-sandal condition.

Pedi-scrubs are a two sided sponge (one side is soft, for skin and the other is a pumice sponge for soles) infused with soap.  They did a great job of buffing my heels (where I’m prone to getting calluses) and were gentle enough for my toes.

I tried out the green citrus-eucalyptus after a long day on my feet & it felt wonderful… smelled good too

Spongeables & Pedi-scrubs are available in drugstores, salons and department stores.
