Avoiding Winter Hat Hair

It’s ridiculously cold out today – I am wearing over-the-knee boots, knee socks, jeans, and a long coat and am still freezing my butt off.
Rumor has it though, if we keep our head warm, the rest of us will follow, and for that reason, hats are the must have accessory for the fall and winter months.
But, we all have been there: Hats may keep our heads warm, but they can be very unflattering to our hair. And, as people may see us in our hats – or when we take the hats off, and in that case, we’d like it …read more

Runway shows can be as much about creating a giant spectacle as they are about the clothes…
Some of the designers from Paris Fashion Week are certainly proving that!
Check out some of these extreme, um – hats? Headwear? Sculpture? Gardening experiments? from the Spring & Summer 2010 collections:
How many of us played with pots, pans and collanders as kids? I bet you’ve got a photo stashed away somewhere with a strainer on your head, right?
Do we want to wear them as adults too?

Piper and Paisley’s owner, Jen, designs and handcrafts each adorable hat at her store herself! She started this special hat line to fill her desire for feminine and comfortable hats that she could envision but not find in stores. If you can’t find it, make it! Now she designs patterns and picks fabrics to create exactly what she wants. Her designs are on sale at Etsy online or at the local Saturday Market in Missoula.
I love the short-brimmed styles that fit close and low and look like a cross between a cloche and a newsboy. Shes uses vintage-looking wood buttons …read more

Fashionable hats have become popular in the past few years as a functional and glamorous accessory that can add so much style to a Fall ensemble. Fall hats are a little different from Winter hats because they don’t need to provide as much warmth, so they can be a little more fashion and a little less function. Here are my picks for the top women’s hat trends for this fall:
decorated cloche – The cloche made a huge comeback last fall, so definitely expect to see this style out in full force. The plain black cloche has already been done, so …read more

Just a few short weeks ago, I wrote about Whichgoose’s ethereal head wreaths. Although I realize revisiting her hat collection so soon opens up all sorts of stalker questions, I can’t help it — sorry.
Why isn’t this talented girl’s designs at Henri Bendel yet? I’ll never understand..
And, while I have your attention, a sophisticated option to dress up your hair at your next formal occasion.
I promise, I’m not her publicist. Just slightly obsessed, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Decorate With Aretha Franklin’s Hat

The lovely Ms. Aretha Franklin made quite a style statement at President Obama’s recent inauguration – in fact, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten so many comments on a post before!
Her classic “church” hat has inspired many women to try adding hats as accessories and now has inspired a Christmas tree ornament. Yes, you can display a little piece of history on your Christmas tree this year
The hand-made glass ornaments will be available at select boutiques or directly from the designer, Curtis Posuniak who can be contacted by email here.
