Wimbledon Ready Aviator Sunglasses

Watching Wimbledon tennis all this week sure did make me want to shop for snazzy English countryside fashion and even snazzier sunglasses. I mean, if you’re going to sit and watch a nearly six hour tennis match between Andy Roddick and Roger Federer you better have some great sunglasses, an even better polo shirt and some really good sunscreen right?

Neiman Marcus

So, if I were to make an appearance at Wimbledon, I would be wearing this pair of Barton Perreira Breedlove Aviator Sunglasses from Neiman Marcus. Check out that pretty pink color of the lenses! You can also get a more tan color as well.

However, if I get get pink, I’m going to get pink! These are $475 and to be honest, sunglasses are an all year item. I’d wear these from January to December…every day of the year! Including the days I pretend to attend amazing tennis matches.

There is a great sale on Paul Smith women’s sunglasses at online discount designer retailer Gilt Groupe.  These stylish sunglasses in some of my favorite trends for summer are on sale for up to 70% off!

I have been posting a lot about sales on Gilt Groupe lately because I think it’s a really great site, but if you are unfamiliar with it you can check it out with my invitation.

The Paul Smith sunglasses featured at Gilt Groupe are on sale until Sunday, July 5 at midnight.  I love the colored plastic frames with oversized lenses.  Here are my picks from the sale:

I love this color!  Unique and vibrant colors are in this summer, so these are an amazing price for a great style.

Paul Smith Aviator Frames $98 (reg. $325)

This a great verions of the classic black plastic aviator that is in style this summer.  These are similar to the Carrera sunglasses that are so popular in Europe.

Paul Smith Oversized Square Sunglasses $98 (reg. $325)

Again, a ridiculous price for designer Paul Smith sunglasses.  I love the color combination in these with the deep forest green and the amber tortoise shell.  These are a smaller size so they would fit on many face shapes.

Super Hip Hipster Flip Up Sunglasses

Mosley Tribes is one of my favorite new sunglass designers. The line is streamlined, pared down, classic, but still totally on trend. I have a bit of a sunglass fetish, and my MTs are one of the shining jewels of my collection. I’m sure you can see why.

gates-redzoom1These hot red flip ups are amazing. I know, they look a lot like Ray Ban Wayfarers, right? Yes, of course they do. And that look gives them a special retro charm. But there’s something different about the shape of these that makes them different. The edges are curved off a bit, and the sides have a less pronounced wing, which makes them ever so slightly more flattering. And, THEY FLIP UP. So, you can live out all your early 80’s movie fantasies, indoors or out. Available for $235 from Karmaloop.

Betsey Johnson Octagonal Sunglasses

I wrote a few months ago about my Top 5 Sunglasses Styles for Summer.  The Betsey Johson Octagonal Sunglasses are pretty amazing because they fit in four of the categories:  Bold Colors, Vintage, Unique Shape, and Oversized.  These oversized frames have a really unique design.  The resin frames are black with a beautiful marbled texture in a dark turquoise (they call it “jade”) at the edges of the lens and wrapping around the temple.  I’ve never seen this style before by another designer!  There is also the tiniest fuschia heart at the temple as a logo.

Betsey Johnson “Vintage” Oversized Sunglasses $85

Betsey Johnson is pretty new on the sunglasses scene so I haven’t had a lot of experience with her designs, but these are a definite hit!  This style is exactly keyed into what is fashionable right now.  I also completely love that these sunglasses are only $85.  At under $100 you’re not going to get complete UV protection (these only offer 60% UVA Protection and 95% UVB Protection) but they are great as a fashionable item.

These vintage-inspired Fendi Rose-Detailed Oval Sunglasses are just gorgeous!  I love everything about them.  The oversized frames are acetate in a translucent plum color with the most delicate etching of tiny roses along the front of the frame.  The oval-shaped lenses are oversized and in a smoky brown shade.  These sunglasses are understated and elegant with small details and delicate colors.  The vintage and subtle styles of this design are exactly what I am interested in this summer.  No more huge logos and rhinestones!

If you are drawn to simple wireless frames and delicate wire frames with colored lenses, then you will love the Barton Perreira sunglasses.

Eyebobs Sunglass Reading Glasses

My favorite brand of readers, Eyebobs, now offers the best invention of the summer:  fashionable sunglass reading glasses!  For all of you wearers of readers out there…is it just me or is this the best invention ever?  During the summer one of my favorite activities is reading outside on a beautiful sunny day.  I was actually squinting at a newspaper outside on my deck when I received these Eyebobs Bardot sunglass readers in the mail.  I put them on and immediately they solved two problems in one!

Just like the rest of their glasses, these are super comfortable with light frames and flexible temples.  Here are some of my favorites:

eyebobs-sunglasses-bardotEyebobs Bardot in Black $65

These cute oversized cat eye sunglasses have a bifocal feature, with reading prescription at the bottom and no prescription for the rest of the lens.  They offer proper sun protection, look great, and allow you to read outside on a sunny day!  These frames also come in tortoise shell or a clear burgundy.

I love these flashy leopard print hexagon acrylic frames with translucent temples.  These just really don’t seem like bifocals at all!  The oversized lenses offer all-around sun protection for your eyes, and the small prescription lens at the bottom offers much-needed magnification.  These are also great for outdoor dining…now you can read the menu and look fabulous!

You can tell that I’m really excited about this discovery…I just didn’t know that this fabulous piece of eyewear existed until a few days ago.  Eyebobs has many more great styles of sunglass readers available on their website.

Retrosun Vintage Cazal Sunglasses

I recently discovered Retrosun, which is a retailer for authentic vintage sunglasses…these are the real brand new products from the 1970s and 80s in their original packaging!  I am new to the whole vintage scene, but I am really falling in love with it.

I am coveting these Retrosun vintage multicolor Cazal sunglasses.  I love the funky detailing in gold, red, and green on the white plastic frames…so retro!  Cazal sunglasses became popular in the 80s when hip-hop celebrities like Run DMC and The Fat Boys were photographed wearing their colorful and eccentric styles.  I love their designs because they are completely unique and they experiment with shapes and colors that are not usually seen in sunglasses frames.

Colorful plastic oversized aviators and vintage styles are really fashionable this summer, so sunglasses like the vintage Cazal are a perfect pick for a combination of the two trends.

Katy Perry’s Stylish Sunglasses and Shoes

I love every piece of Katy Perry’s outfit for her interview with Chris Moyles in London this week!  She is a huge fan of Ray-Ban, so at first look it seems that she is wearing yet another pair of the Ray-Ban Clubmaster sunglasses.  I spotted her wearing them here in grey so I thought these were the same style in pink.

These sunglasses are very similar to the classic Clubmaster style with rimless bottoms and colored half frames, but the main difference is that these frames are plastic instead of metal.  These sunglasses are the Juicy Couture Archival Sunglasses in Neon Pink.  I love the cute Juicy logos along the temple and the chunkier look of the plastic.

Where to Get Real Vintage Sunglasses

I found these vintage Dior Retro Rounds sunglasses at Barneys New York and noticed that they were made by brand Retrosun.  How are vintage Diors made by a different brand?  Retrosun was started by Nicole Miller in 2005 after she discovered a warehouse filled with backstock of authentic vintage designer sunglasses.  Now the brand finds designers’ stock from around the world and sells gorgeous vintage sunglasses from the 1970s and 1980s.

I am loving all of the vintage-inspired sunglass styles that are popular this summer, but it would be even more amazing to get my hands on the real piece of history!  Maybe I have discovered Nicole Richie’s secret to always having the most amazing vintage styles.

Here are some great vintage sunglasses from Retrosun:

I love these delicate metal frames in soft summer hues.  The round lenses are a distinct vintage style that is popping up everywhere.

This is another beautiful round lens with a delicate metal frame.  I love the 1970s style with the tortoise shell and thin gold details.

Retro Sun Vintage Christian Dior $270

Sometimes I like the vintage look where you can kind of imagine your Grandma wearing it, but it is also ridiculously fashionable.  That’s how I feel about these rose-tinted oversized sunglasses with red acetate frames.
