As my birthday approaches, I’m considering the Annual Birthday Shopping Trip. Generally, at this time of year, I ask my husband for one thing–new clothes. There haven’t been many times that I’ve asked for anything else. This year, because I seem to have gotten rid of a lot of my fall clothes while pregnant last autumn (we were packing to move-everything had to go!), my list is extensive. As you know, my pieces must be child-friendly, easy to move in, and easy to put together (which tends not to be the case in my closet, …read more
Chinatown Logorama Tee by Freegums

As a former NYC resident, I have spent my fair share of time in Chinatown. And not just the hip-to-be-square Chinese ice cream shops or the uber-cheap restaurants. I must grudgingly admit that I have trekked down to Canal Street to scope out the fake designer merchandise. Never alone, of course, and only with out of town guests, who don’t know that fake designer goods keep designer prices high, support all sorts of illicit activities, and, well, are made of shoddy materials by people who are lucky if they get paid.
Guilt-tripping aside, there is something so seductive to me about …read more
Everyone Needs More Sassy Gym Tees

Clothing motivation for the gym never gets old. I was actually scouting out Torrid for upcoming 4th of July festivities tees when I happened upon their grey “Love” shirt complete with a big brushstroke arcing across the front, and an adorable heart complementing it to the side. It’s Made in the USA and guaranteed to swivel a couple heads. It’ll match all those boring pairs of gym shorts, too, so at least we can get a shock of color in there before pounding away on the treadmill.
Love it!
Top Tee Picks of the Week

Some plus-size tops are universally flattering, even though many “experts” would beg to differ. How many of you have v-necks stored away in your closet, or in regular seasonal wardrobe rotation? I suggest you keep buying them, because there’s nothing nicer than a v-neck top framing the face and flattering the bust.
I know I’m not alone when I say that those ruffled, ultra-feminine styles of seasons past weren’t doing many 14 and up women any favors. They’re no turtlenecks, but they are still pretty challenging to pull off. These, on the other hand, are not hard to style up whatsoever:

Spring Cleaning: One Tee at a Time

Are you cleaning out your closets yet? I just stocked up on a fabulous bunch of stuff from Old Navy, and then I did the hard thing: gave away a good deal of other stuff from my closet! I said goodbye to a load of dresses and tops, but at least I know things are going to a good home where they will help people desperately in need of style.
Plus, now I have more room in my closet for this:
Okay, who am I kidding? This, too.
You can get the top here, and the scarf here at Old Navy.

I’ve been following Threadless for some time, but it’s taken me this long to realize that they were very plus-friendly! What have I been missing?! (See above for your answer.) Threadless tees are available for women up to size 2XL on the site, and what’s even better is that you’re not getting gouged on the price: tops with fun and whimsical designs start at $9 (this one pictured is $18).
If you happen to be into more than just buying, you can certainly try out The Bestee Program by entering your own designs. Not only will you be adding your individual …read more

Pantsuits Are Back and Ready to Be Accessorized

I never thought that I would ever say that I like pantsuits, but here I’m saying just that. I don’t know what has changed about them, but they don’t look anything like I remember. Oh, there is one thing, you aren’t going to find heavy blouses worn beneath. Now it is a simple t-shirt of even a tank top.
But what I like most about them is the heels that work so well with today’s pantsuits. I can just see these shoes with a skinny lavender pantsuit. Just gorgeous and pretty much the only accessory that you need. Okay, maybe …read more
