There’s nothing quite like waking up to two inches of snow… and the realization that you having nothing to keep your feet warm and dry!  Hey, at least it’s a good excuse to go shoe shopping

And while the classic “Moon Boot” may be warm and cozy, they aren’t quite the style statement I’m trying to make:

Luckily, there are lots of stylish options to keep my toes warm, dry and fashionable this winter.

UGG makes the very cute “Gisella” wedge heel ankle boot:

If you’d prefer something a little taller, maybe with a slouch, the “McKenzie” boot from Annie may fill the bill.  It’s vegan-friendly and available in both black and brown:

Stylish Winter Boots for Warm Toes

But for those of us with generous calves, boot shopping can be a real challenge.

You can sometimes get a boot repair person to add an elastic gusset to the inside of the shaft.  Of course, if you can’t try the boot on before you buy it, that makes things all the more challenging.

Luckily, the fashion world is listening to our pleas for stylish boots for wider calves.

Silhouettes has a great line of trend-conscious boots for larger calves – check out the very hot pleated boot!

Boots with pleats, buttons and other feminine touches are so trendy right now – it’s great to see options for larger calves too.

New Boots from Silhouettes

They’re great for adding an extra layer of warmth with skirts, or you can pair them with a pair of jeans or pants.

But the question remains, how do you like your boots?  Do you like them with straps, or with zippers?  Ruffles or with laces?  Not sure what I mean?  Let me show you…

The “Narcissa” boot from Lauren by Ralph Lauren are accented with leather straps that spiral up the shaft of the boot.  They’re available in several colors and come with branded brass hardware.

If you’d prefer zippers rather than straps, the “Marnie” by Botkier features soft gray leather, accented with zippers that circle the shaft of the boot, set into panels of gathered leather.

How Do You Like Your Boots?

But these boots are an awful lot of look for one outfit.

I’d like your opinion please – am I right, or are these boots just too much for the average person to wear?

Let’s start with boot A:

The “Tangy” boot by Beverly Feldman is made from embroidered suede and trimmed with “sculpted” patent leather.

Our next contestant… less embroidery – more horse shoes:

The “Mansfield” boot from True Religion features their signature horse shoe, accented with pleated “vintaged” leather.  And no, I don’t know what “vintaged” leather is either…

And boot “C” makes an appearance:

The five layer fringe boot from Minnetonka.

Yes, fringe is popular.

Fringe is trendy.

Fringe can be a cute accent when used sparingly.

In my own personal opinion – this is just a little too much fringe for me.  And besides, what happens if the cat decided your new boot is the best toy ever?

Boot unhappiness!

TOMS has finally found a solution and created a boot that should fit almost anyone who wears it.  The Wrap boot is essentially a shoe with a long, stretchy cotton band attatched to the top of the shoe:

To wear the boot, you slip the shoe on and spiral the wrap around your legs.  You can go as high as you’d like or keep it low on your calves.  You can wrap it over jean legs, or underneath a skirt.  And because the wrap is stretchy, it will move with you all day long.  There are several colors available on their website.
