Okay, I want to offer the disclaimer that I am not, personally, into bride-logoed accessories. At my bachelorette party, I firmly refused to wear anything brides-y, including a curled ribbon tiara or pink button. But there is a huge demand out there for bride printed apparel, and so I feel it is my duty to tell you where to get it for a reasonable price.

Okay, well, I’m not usually one for logo tees. I just can’t see walking around with someone else’s name written across my chest. I’m also not really that into tees with, like, quirky catchphrases on them, although I have been known to make exceptions. This tank encompasses both of these things that I don’t really dig, but is totally likable, wearable, and wantable.

This extra long modal racerback has the definitions for the words “kill” and “city” written on it, which, technically is neither a logo nor a catchphrase, so there. Plus, there’s pictures. They don’t really make sense with the words, but that’s fine by me. I really like how the text is so fine and crowded that it really looks more like a pattern. And I also dig the super long length. Rock with leather belt and high heels or slouchy cardigan and oxfords. Available for $28.95 from Karmaloop.

Sugar and spice, naughty and nice, boho and chic, these types of contrasts are what style is all about. I’m particularly fond of low/high paradigms so this casual cotton boy beater turned totally elegant/badass is right up my alley. Check it.

There really is something for everyone on this tank. Literally. I am love the soft, feminine shade of peach and the sweet ruffles. And the little satin bow is a totally great touch. Since I started out the day with peace signs, I figured that, for the sake of consistency, I would stay thematic here on this thunderstormy monday. So, here I bring you tie dye. Actually, the technique used isn’t tie dying, technically, it’s a combination of bleaching and hand dying. But, the effect is similar. And, like the peace sign, although it may conjure up images of bright polyester knits and smiley faces, there are other ways to wear it.

Like with tight ripped denim and loads of black eyeliner. Think Black Sabbath rather than The Grateful Dead and you’ll be on the right track, as far as I’m concerned. Try not to focus on the (bizarrely) plaid pants the model is wearing. You don’t have to be that girl. This top deserves some ass-kicking black boots and a leather jacket, instead. While I am a completely peace loving individual, I’m not really into wearing peace signs. Something about growing up in the 1980’s made me completely resistant to peace signs as a fashion statement, what was it? Oh yes, it was the complete and total everywhere-ness of the peace sign that lasted basically from the 1960’s to the 1990’s that killed it for me. And now it’s back, and I still don’t love it, but I do love this.

You can immediately see that this design is different. I love the weirdly shaped, distorted quality of the peace sign against the sort of trapeze shaped tank. And, “Increase the Peace,” isn’t that a slogan we can all get behind? Available for $25 at Krudmart.

Okay, as I have said in the past, I don’t really condone shopping at Urban Outfitters. That doesn’t mean I don’t do it sometimes, it just means I’m a hypocrite about it. They are towering corporate behemoth that gives money to conservative causes. But here’s a time when I feel totally okay about shopping at the old UO, when prices are so low that they just HAVE to be taking a loss.

This badass Silence + Noise tank is a mere $9.99. Obviously that doesn’t include shipping, but still. It’s dope. And it says “Destructive Tendencies” on the front. Love it.

These quilted arm round sunglasses are down to $4.99. That’s less than an ultra grande latte or whatever, so even if you only wear them once, it’s kinda worth it. But you won’t wear them only once, because they have nice dark lenses, so they’ll probably become a quick hangover favorite, right? Er, maybe that’s just me?

This Silence + Noise mesh pocket tee is totally 90’s-licious and also only $4.99. You laugh now, but in two months you’re gonna be rocking this thing with some Doc Martens and thanking me.

Obviously, there’s more where that came from. They say the sale ends on the 26th, but I doubt it. On the other hand, things might go fast, so…you make the call. All items available at Urban Outfitters.

And now for aan article of clothing that I am intrigued by, but am not sure that I like. I love the way this chocolate and turquoise tank looks in the pics. I love the weirdly asymmetrical cut and unfinished edges. But I have some questions about the craftspersonship and quality of finish for the price.

Don’t get me wrong. I am 100% behind almost any DIY aesthetic and this is no exception. But I am not a yuppie who thinks it’s reasonable to spend $65 on a ripped up tank top. So, if anyone has experience with this line and whether the quality warrants the cash money price tag, please let me know.

Pricely nitpicking aside, this top is totally convertible, to which I say RAD, and also weird and falling apart looking. So long as it’s not actually going to fall apart, I’m good with it, and would rock it verily with denim shorts and combat boots or gladiators. Available from Led Thread.

Huge Plus “No”

Wow. I caught this halter over at Torrid. . . shall we list off all the reasons why this Whole Lotta Look should never touch the plus frame? Here goes!

1. One of the splotches is directly over the bust, which looks really awkward and unflattering.
2. The color combination is questionable at best.
3. All that ruffle does down the front is add pounds.
4. Super slim straps on a halter top can be a pain to wear.
5. The tube shape is not flattering to any body type.

Any other reasons out there? Yikes!

I’m liking this blue ruffle top from Missphit more and more! It’s really bold, but I keep seeing plus ladies around who can pull it off. . . it’ll work really well when you need to balance the upper part of your body with the lower part, like for pear-shaped women! That bright blue only further amps things up. . . love love love.

Have you ever picked something out that was daring as a plus piece? This one might be mine, but I think it’s worth a shot at under $40!

Okay, let’s get a few things straight. I’m not really into hippie garb. I don’t have any problem with it, but as a style, it just doesn’t work work for me. Maybe it’s because it’s been restyled and recycled so many times that I just have a problem finding anything fresh or relevant in it. Or maybe I’m still a goth, and just can’t handle all those daisies and smiley faces. What I do like, however, is that particularly grungy brand of boho that is characterized by bands like Led Zeppelin and The Doors. Bohemian, but dark. Groovy, but not in a flower power kind of way.

Which is, I think, why I dig this tank so much. It’s a little bit hippie, but a lot rock-n-roll. It’s darkly dyed, and would go well with some badass stiletto gladiator sandals and dark, tight jeans. You know, and maybe you could thrown on a skull ring or something, just for good measure. Available for $18 from Inspiring Color.
