Beach Bag Hair Essentials

So, I’m off to Mexico in just a few days!
Obviously, in such a hot, humid climate, my hair will be a BIG issue. Emphasis on big, and frizzy. And scary.
Here’s some tried-and-true hair products that will be in my beach bag at all times.
Ojon Rub-Out Dry Cleanser to Go ($10, sephora.com)
Obviously, I”m coming with a hat and sunglasses, but my hair will still be exposed. I’ve tried many dry shampoos, and this is my favorite! It’s sort of a pick-me-up and a great way to go straight from beach to poolside cocktails.

Ted Gibson: New Face of What Not to Wear

Have I mentioned lately that I love Ted Gibson?
Perhaps not. But I do. In fact, we’re kinda sorta besties.
(Photographic evidence below.)
Ted Gibson threw a party last night in his Chelsea salon to announce that starting tonight (at 9 pm EST), he would be taking over as the hair guru on TLC’s What Not to Wear.
I love that show – I’ve watched it for years with my other beloved, Nick Arrojo, in the role – but I’m super excited for Ted Gibson. He is awesome – not only is he a fabulously talented hair stylist (who has done just about every …read more
Steal the look: Erin Lucas from The City

As I’ve mentioned before at length, one of my extreme hair stylist crushes is Liam Carey of Ted Gibson salon.
Apparently, I’m in good company.
Thursday evening, Erin Lucas (from MTV’s “The City”) spent the night at Greenhouse in New York City, acting as the celebrity mixologist for a Three-O Vodka’ party in honor of its new “Bubble” flavor.
Before the event, Erin had her hair styled by my hair-crush, the one and only (celebrity hair stylist) Liam Carey.
Liam gave Erin a sleek shiney look to match her hot pink frock while celeb make up guru Brian Duprey (Pictured, Brian is at left, …read more
Ted Gibson Full Head Hair Extensions

So, as you may have read yesterday, I was having extreme hair-freak-out time.
What does one do when their own hair is breaking off before their eyes? Well, they do their best to avoid dealing with the problem by putting on the sexiest alternative they can find!
That, my friends, is pretty much the entire reason that beauty products exist!
A while ago, Ted Gibson had sent me his Full Head Hair Extensions in the “Reese” color (a fabulous golden blonde almost identical to my own shade), and as it was during crazy moving time, I put it in my to-be-played-with closet and …read more
Summer Hair Alert

According to my good friend, the sexy (and brilliant!) Liam Carey at Ted Gibson Salon, “summer girls need to have long hair… Layered with lots of texture.”
This allows girls to pull it back on those really hot days. “I love the loose French braid,” Liam says.
Most importantly, long hair in the summer provides you with the ability to emote sexiness, especially when getting out of the pool or ocean.
Whipping that long hair like a Sports Illustrated model… You can’t do that with a bob!

Ted Gibson’s New Clip-Ins

Need some instant hair revving up but don’t have the cash to invest in salon extensions?
Get the next best thing!
New from Ted Gibson and found on QVC, Ted Gibson Full Head Hair Extensions are a super major must-have.
These are clip-in, and synthetic, but they are made of a material that can be heat-styled just like real hair. That means you don’t have to commit AT ALL to any style – clip it in when you want it, and then decide if you want to be curly, wavy, or whatever.
This is why I love it: At around $150, it feels like …read more
Ted Gibson Discusses the Extensions Trend

I heart Ted Gibson – and thus, it’s always fun to get his thoughts on the biggest, latest trends in hair. It seems one of the new “it” styles is extensions – even Katie Holmes was seen recently in Tokyo sporting long locks. (Which, interestingly, she’s since rid herself of!)
The beauty of extensions? They let you choose to not commit to any hair length. But they are pricey – and requires tons of work and consideration.
Check out Ted’s thoughts!
1. What are your thoughts on this new look?
I think 2009 is about hair augmentation. Clip it in, clip it out. That’s …read more

Yesterday afternoon, I attended the FABULOUS Ted Gibson Salon for a new ‘do. While we went for nothing drastic, I think it’s an ideal mix of pretty, sexy, and edgy. (My three ideals.)
I’ll write with more details soon, but for now, I wanted to attached the promised picture!
Please write and tell me what you think – I’m really happy! (Note: I have bangs, for the first time in YEARS. This is big news in Aly-land.)
What Should I Do With MY Hair?

Hi friends!
So, rather than give advice, I am here to ASK for it.
This Friday afternoon, I shall be visiting the very exclusive Ted Gibson salon for a new ‘do. While I am fully comfortable throwing my fate into their hands and going for something new and spontaneous – just in case I am asked what I want, I should have some thoughts.
So…what should I do? Anyone have any advice?
I am including some pix of me so you can offer educated feedback!
