The Fashion Show: Episode 5

Remember how I mentioned that Episode 5 of The Fashion Show would be all about the natural curves and challenges most women deal with? Well, this week we saw some seriously true colors from the designers about their feelings (and ultimately aptitude!) to design for a woman who weighs more than 110lbs.
The surprises started early when the designers are told they will need to sketch a dress from memory. The way everything is set up, everyone assumes that the dress they will be designing is one of Issac Mizrahi’s creations. Wrong! As soon as Kelly Rowland leaves the room, they …read more

The Fashion Show: Episode 4 Best and Worst

This week on The Fashion Show, Reco won with his teeny little black minidress designed to compliment Yves saint Laurent mesh heels, which happen to be some of the hottest shoes to step off the runway. An advantage for him? Yes, I think so.

My personal favorite is still Angel’s gorgeous shirt dress, paired with blue and red Stella McCartney heels. This dress is just so funky and wearable – it just looks effortlessly chic, which I think takes a tremendous amount of skill. I hope Angel can keep up and continue delivering in the coming weeks.

I also really enjoyed Daniella’s …read more

The Fashion Show: Episode 4

Last night’s episode of The Fashion Show highlighted one of my favorite things in the entire world…shoes. The end result of this fantastic episode was a series of dresses that were the strongest collection so far in the series. Well, except for Merlin. But we’ll get to that later.
There was no wasting time – the designers met with Laura Brown from Harper’s Bazaar magazine and immediately started in their challenge…create a pair of eco-friendly shoes for Elizabeth Olsen of Olsenhaus pure vegan shoes from a box of organic materials and plain ankle boot. Reco’s team was super strong and Johnny was …read more

The Fashion Show: Episode 4 Preview Clips!

Tonight’s episode of The Fashion Show includes bickering about similar designs and the first time the designers work independently for their final challenge – no more teams! I can’t wait to see what the designers come up with to compliment their fabulous shoes…
Here are some preview clips from the show:

This baby step of a challenge is appropriate and Laura Brown reveals the secret ingredient.

The designers finally have a chance to make the judges proud as individual designers.

Anna is a bit miffed that Andrew’s pleating detail looks a lot like what she had done.

The Fashion Show: Showdowns and Shoes

This week is Episode #4 of The Fashion Show and the words women all over the world swoon for are the focus of attention. That’s right…you know what I’m talking about…shoes.
The mini-challenge puts the designers to the eco-friendly test, with a new print for Olsenhaus pure vegan shoes on the agenda. Good for the environment and chic…now that’s a trend worth following.

For the elimination challenge, a common female problem is the crux of the matter…what do you do when you fall in love with a gorgeous pair of shoes, and have nothing in your closet to go with it?

Retro Fun With Mary Jane Heels

I love love love the color of these aqua “Dolly” mary jane shoes!
They’re inspired by 1940s styling and feature a 2.5″ stacked heel and double buckled straps.  They’re also vegan-friendly with a crinkled vinyl upper and feminine cutouts along the toes.

Of course, if the aqua is a little too bright for you, you can always go with the more restrained black and beige combination:

Not as bright and just as cute!
