New Gucci Sunglasses Designs for Winter

I was flipping through my most recent Nordstrom catalogue featuring new winter accessories when I spotted these amazing Gucci sunglasses. Fun colorful frames are great for summer, but classic and sophisticated sunglasses are perfect to pair with your wool coat and cashmere scarf in winter. Don’t forget that there are lots of sunny days in the winter that will require proper eye protection!

Gucci Oversized Sunglasses $220

Lilly Cole is modelling these amazing classic Gucci frames. The oversized square frames have the classic red and green Gucci stripe and logo along the temple. I love the vintage feel! These are very sophisticated and would look amazing with a classic cashmere coat.

Gucci Flora Oversized Square Sunglasses $295

For a little bit more of a statement, these sunglasses have a beautiful black and white floral print along the wide temple. These would look great with skinny jeans and a leather jacket.

Gucci Bamboo Logo Sunglasses $275

I’m usually not a fan of big logos, but these gold bamboo linked G logos are tastefully done. The oversized rectangular frames have thicker acetate along the outside of the temple which creates a connection to the Gucci logo. These are a very glamorous style that would look great with your faux fur coat!

Julia and Hilary in Persol Sunglasses

Persol sunglasses have a simple vintage look that will never go out of style. Persol has been around since 1910 and the styles that they created in the early 1900’s have recently been re-released because the designs are so appropriate for men and women of all ages. Earlier this year I wrote about Persol sunglasses for men, but they also have amazing styles for women that use the same concepts of high quality and timeless design.

Recently some of the classiest actresses in Hollywood have been spotted sporting Persol shades.

Julia Roberts has the Persol 2873 black acetate cat-eye sunglasses. The small size is flattering on a woman’s face, especially if you have sharp features like the lovely Julia. These sunglasses have extra thick rims for a modern update and the signature Persol silver arrow detail at the temple.

Another Hollywood beauty, Hilary Swank, has been spotted wearing the Persol 2961 also in black acetate. The comparison between these two frames shows the focus on simple high quality design that lacks flashiness and big logos, but maintains a style that will be fashionable for decades. These are similar to the Persol 2873, except that they have a larger rectangular shape.

Looking for the perfect wedding gift for a quirky couple? Well, before you buy that blender, make sure they don’t already have one, okay, because when I got married, we got like six blenders. My favorite gift, besides an expensive piece of art, was a set of towels from my friend Christy, because they actually looked like something I would put in my house. These also look like something I would put in my house.

Adorable, right? They look straight out of the Anthropologie catalog. But instead of supporting some corporate Made in China crap, these are re-worked vintage cups and saucers from the 1960’s. Alright, brides, summer wedding season is officially over. If you have a date set in the fall, it’s definitely time to get crackin’ on getting those invites out. For winter, eh, you’re still okay, but you should probably get prepared, anyways. If you’re looking for something a little outside of the everyday, check out these beautiful vintage look invitations by NellyBean.

I love the intricate double name banner at the top, the profuse use of gold, and the combo of fonts. This is an invitation for an affair to remember, for sure. If you don’t like the colors or fonts, though, the artist is happy to accommodate you. Back Seam Tights

I found a gorgeous pair of Wolford back seam tights on sale a few months ago that I snatched up for an affordable price. Wolford makes the most amazing high quality hosiery so I buy them anytime they are on sale. I hadn’t thought a lot about back seam tights before, but I was really attracted to the noir feel and understated sexiness of the tights, so now I am happy to see that they are becoming a legwear trend for Fall.

Wolford Individual 10 Back Seam Tights $50

The Wolford Individual 10 material is soft with a matte transparent appearance. They have other styles with the same material, but the Back Seam are definitely my favorite. I haven’t been able to find a huge variety of back seam tights, but I am sure that as soon as the weather starts cooling down we will see them plentifully available in various styles…

Sexy back seam tights are the perfect accessory for an understated vintage look. I would wear them with a black cashmere sweater dress or a black pencil skirt with a silk blouse. They look great with spiky heeled round or pointy toed pumps. You can definitely add excitement to a conservative all black dressy ensemble with a pair of back seam tights.

In the 80’s, high waisted hobble skirts became all the rage, especially when worn with peplum jackets with shoulder pads. Get Ready For Cloche Season

Last year the cloche was a still a little bit edgy so most designers only had black versions available, but this Fall get ready for tons of amazing variations on this vintage-inspired style. I have my black wool cloche from Fall 08 and I am definitely ready to start scoping out all of the many creative new designs that are starting to emerge.

Fun and expressive accessories are going to be extremely popular this season because they allow you to be fashionable without splurging for an entire outfit. The cloche is a great hat to wear to add a stylish edge to your dress with tights and heels. It looks great with a trench or pea coat.

This is another fabulous statement cloche from Urban Outfitters…and it’s currently on sale at an extremely affordable price. I love the detail of the folded up brim for a new shape for the cloche and the oversized grosgrain flower piece. I know it isn’t really PC to give matches as favors, but these matchboxes are so lovely and retro that I’m willing to overlook that. The designer uses vintage wedding photos and glitter to embellish these sweet little gifts. I guess that sounds like it could look pretty cheesy, but it doesn’t. See for yourself:

Lovely, right? And, I guess if you’re worried about using them to light cigarettes you could give them with a little candle. They come personalized with your name and the date of your wedding, and they’re sure to be a hit with any bride with a vintage sensibility.
