Not to be gross or anything, but when traveling, I try to stretch out time between washings.
In general, I do this anyway – when you have curly hair, blowing it out can be tiresome and time-consuming. But when I’m away, and often do not have my tried-and-true styling tools around, this becomes ever-the-more my inclination.
But what I have discovered, over time, is that many of us are not washing our hair correctly, and in fact, washing our hair the right way is the key way to having the most successful life-span post blowout.

The Great Unwashed

This weekend, I stayed in a totally fancy hotel – but for some odd reason, their toiletries were less-than well stocked.
We had plenty of body cleansing type stuff, and shampoo, but no conditioner. This resulted in me having the choice of washing my hair unconditioned, or not washing it for 3 days – while in beach-and-heat conditions.
I chose to not wash…and by the end of the weekend, was not all that attractive. However, I would have been if I knew this was going to happen and came with all my blowout-stretching materials at-ready.

It’s easy to get caught up in the rush and busy of preparing for the holidays. Don’t forget to take a few moments for yourself. It’s important to catch your breath, recharge, and pamper yourself – if only for a short time – in order to truly be able to enjoy everything that the holidays have to offer.
