I think this sweet little ring would work as an engagement ring OR a wedding ring, or as both, depending on your taste. I really like the balance between the diamond and the little hydrangea blossom, and the contrast between the sterling and yellow gold. The market is flooded with wedding jewelry claiming to be unique and personalized. But this band by Chris Parry really makes good on that promise by imprinting the interior of the band with your fingerprint. I think that this is a really sweet, and totally not cliché, way to put a little something of yourself on your betrothed’s ring finger.

The band itself is sleek, simple, all the things a ring you’ll wear every day should be. It’s also available in other (read: less expensive!) materials. Parry, the designer, says that he makes these rings unique by adding fairy dust and unicorn horn, but actually the process is more mysterious than that. The good news is that all he needs from you to work his magic is a clean fingerprint from an inkpad. Available for $1,280 from Chris Parry.

Of all the wedding duties a groom has, proposing is the most important. It’s a moment you’ll both remember forever, so getting all the details right can, I’m sure, be nerve-wracking. I can only imagine how nervous my man was when he got down on one knee. Er, well, he got down on two, actually, he was kneeling, but anyways. Ring selection is the only part that us ladies may have a say in, in terms of the proposal, so if you do, have I got a great idea for you.

I’m going to go ahead and offer the disclaimer that this ring is for a money-is-no-object sort of situation. The price is “available by request”, which means very very expensive, as does the ring of pavé baguette cut diamonds and center emerald cut stunner that the ring is composed of. But a girl can dream, and even if you can’t afford this ring, if you love it then it’s a good place to start getting an idea of what you do want. And, in case you were wondering, yes, that is another diamond set into the bezel of the central solitaire. Breathtaking. Available from Cartier.

When my mother was married, my grandmother (her mother in-law to be) loaned her a porcelain flower brooch to wear in her hair. Now that I’m engaged, I wanted to wear the same pin that my mother did, and my grandmother before her.There was one small problem.

My Nana couldn’t find the pin. She looked all over her house. My aunt looked all over her house. My parents even looked all over Nana’s house.

And no pin.

“Oh well” I thought, I’m sure I can find more. So I started building up my own collection of porcelain flowers to wear.

And then, Nana found the pin! So I now have enough flowers to wear in my hair, as well as share with my bridesmaids.

It’s a little unusual to wear brooches in your hair, but I love the way they look – just be careful & don’t poke yourself!
