Combating Winter Hair Blahs

It’s getting colder and colder out, and beyond knowing I am flying out to another continent soon, seasonal depression is already rearing its ugly head.
What’s even worse is the season itself is terrible for our hair: Just one experience with hat hair will show you that.
But there’s always solutions. For instance, Ellin Lavar, a hot celebrity hair stylist, suggests we sew a satin sleep bonnet into our favorite wool hat. This will help maintain your hairstyle and protect your hair from the drying affects of the wool!
How awesome an idea is that??? Some other great tips from Ellin:

Winter Hair Care Tips

Brr, baby it’s getting cold, and we have to give that consideration when planning our hair care. I consulted Patrick Wellington of Wellington Hair Spa, he had some great tips on little ways we can begin to make a big difference.

Conditioning
During the dry winter months, there is little moisture in the air and the hair and scalp tend to dry out more easily. After every shampoo, put a deep conditioner in your hair and leave it in for a minimum of 3-5 minutes.
Roller Setting
If you have medium to long length hair, instead of using a flat or curling iron, …read more

Get Your Curls Ready for Winter

One of the most knowledgeable ladies around, Keneesha Hudson, CEO of Urbanbella – a hot salon for all hair curly, kinky, and wavy, emailed me today with some winter tips for keeping our hair – curls and all – happy and healthy!
As many of you know, my hair is naturally curly, and while straightened, it still exhibits many curly hair personality traits!
According to Keneesha, hydrating is the name of the game. “As it starts to cool down curly hair (already prone to dryness) gets even drier due to the crisper hair. Counteract this by increasing hydration hair therapy!” …read more

Uggs are still with us

And I’m seeing a lot of them. If you have a tween in your household, this might be a pretty good gift idea. You can go with this color (that would go with everything) or go pink. I can’t believe I am seeing so many pink Uggs in the malls this month.

The Return of the Slouch Boots

Maybe it’s just not cold enough where I live, but I haven’t seen anyone in slouch boots as of yet. But it is November and chances are, people will be putting away their heels for something a bit more substantial before too much longer. For what it’s worth, I do think that these slouch boots would look awfully good with a pair of jeans. For that matter, I think they would look good with a skirt too… but better with jeans.
And they are on sale!!

Lost gloves

Well, this post isn’t going to help you find them, but just maybe you will want to invest in a few new pair. We picked up a bunch very much like this last year. You know… the top flips off allowing your fingers freedom to do… whatever you can’t do in a pair of mitts. Anyway, I just saw them and it reminded me to sort through our mile and see if we have enough for the upcoming season. We tend to always lose one of a pair.
So, are you a mitt or glove kind of person??

Chenille Earwarmers

Believe it or not, I actually wore ear warmers to play tennis last Sunday. The day was gorgeous, but there was just a slight breeze that must have been coming down from the artic, by the feel of it. These kept me toasty as I burned off a few zillion calories…
Yeah right lol…
Available at Macy*s for $30.00

Why I chose these boots

Why I chose these boots

We were talking about what we fear as we get older and I have to agree with Rhea. Falling on ice is not one of the perks of winter and while I like my boots to have heels, I think that I prefer to add inches this way.
Now if I didn’t live in a snowy locale, my choice would probably be different, but falling is not one of my fun things to do. And have you noticed that you always manage to fall when there are a lot of people around to see you!!
But wait, I kind of like …read more

Knit Fox Fur Hat

It’s a miserable day outside and the rain looks as if it could turn to snow at any minute. That’s why I have a hat already and waiting in the closet downstairs. I can’t even imagine going through winter without a hat. You have to admit, this looks awfully toasty!!

Max Studio”Remington” Tall Laced Boot

I should be browsing for umbrellas today as it is gray and dreary outside, but instead, I’m looking at winter boots. Definitely not looking forward to snow this year, but you have to admit, these boots are gorgeous. Did you notice the detailing at the back of the boots? Just might make winter, not quite so bad.
And just in case you want to take a peek at what else Max Studio has for you this season, take a look!
