Reasons to Love Fall: Scarves & Wraps

Just like we love strapless dresses, tousled tresses and bare legs for the summer there are various reasons for loving the Fall season. One of those reasons is covering up! Picking the perfect scarf, wrap, blazer, or even bolero is the highlight of my Fall shopping. It’s so much fun I have to break these two topics up in to two different posts.
The past few seasons scarfs have popped up everywhere, from tiny local boutiques to main stream discount stores such as Target and Old Navy. It honestly all depends on how much you’re willing to spend on fashion for …read more
Vintage-Look Shawls with a Glam Factor

I love finishing off outfits with a wrap or shawl. They’re a great way to add a color accent, cover your bare arms or add a little extra warmth during those cool spring evenings.
Some shawls are meant strictly for a dramatic accent! These 100% silk shawls are based on designs from the 1930s, and finished off with hand embroidery. To add even more of an impact, the shawls have a long fringe:

My love of shawls, wraps and stoles continues unabated – which is, of course why I chose this cashmere wrap for today’s accessory pick:
Indie designer J’emmajo creates these one-of-a-kind cashmere wraps using “upcycled” bits of fabric from dressmaker’s scraps. Each wrap is accented with slivers of silk, rayon and other evening dress fabrics.

Chunky wool scarves, wraps and cowls have made their way down several catwalks – and judging from the amount of frost on my front lawn this morning – it’s perfect timing to bring them out!
I love supporting indie designers, and Etsy is full of fantastic, trendy designs – check out this hand-knitted wool cowl by New York designer, Spratters & Jayne:
Fashionable and cozy – now there’s a happy mix

Shawls, wraps and stoles are a great way to go from warm summery-feeling days to crisper, autumn nights.
You can wrap them around your shoulders, knot them around your neck or drape it across your arm if you’re a little too toasty.
My pick for a lovely shawl that will see you through the late summer all the way to next spring? Pucci’s silk and lurex “Amelie“:

Okay, so it’s technically almost summer (and feels like summer for lots of us but evenings can still be a little cool sometimes. I don’t always want to wear a jacket – so what’s a girl to do to keep her shoulders from getting chilly?
How about a silk stole from Banjaras?
Or this lovely embroidered vicose wrap from Blu & Blu.
This silk-blend jacquard stole from Etro is lined with velvet – definitely good for cool spring evenings!
