Nothing says summer like a pretty sundress! Why not give your loved one a pretty dress to wear for this summer’s BBQs and pool side parties? Sure you can give her the basic white eyelet dress but why not think out of the box and choose something in shades of yellow? Yellow is the colour for summer this year, you’ll see this shade on shoes, handbags and accessories and these two pretty dresses are sure to brighten her day.

This sleeveless ruffled short yellow dress reminds me of one of the tops I featured recently in House of Fraser’s 2008 Yasmin Le Bon collection. It also has that 80s vibe going on, with the super bright color and the wide belt.

Yellow, ruffles, and retro 80s are all *in* this season. The dress is on sale right now for less than $50. Wear it with this oversized glossy black handbag, also on sale, and under $30!

I’m seeing a lot of yellow in this season’s catalogues. This dress by Scala incorporates that color theme while the design has a style all its own.

It looks nice in the blue and the red as well, but I think the yellow dress with blue accents is the prettiest of all the color choices.

I think this organza and satin dress would look stunning on a brunette or someone with an olive skintone:

Here’s a closer look at the bodice:

(Sorry, that’s the highest zoom I could get.) It’s available at eternitystore.com, which specializes in modest dresses. But if you’re not in the market for modest, don’t let the label turn you off to the dress — it’s just as pretty as any of the dresses you’d find at a prom-specific store, and it’s a lot cheaper than most of those prom stores — compare at an average of $300 or more for prom-specific sites and $160 for this dress.

Additionally, if you are buying this for a prom or school formal, the rents might be more inclined to fork over the cash if you tell them it’s from a modesty site. Work it, and use it to your advantage.

(I am using the term “the rents” in an effort to appear cooler than I actually am. I have no idea if that phrase is even still *in* or not.)

You can get it in purple or pale yellow as well.
