4 Leggings from Ron Herman

Leggings had a practical fashion start, going back to the 14th century when they were worn by both men and women for warmth and protection. Today, however, they have a more dubious reputation, the style having been tortured and abused through many bad fashion statements.
But if you have any doubt about the staying power of leggings, take a look around the fashionable streets of Europe. There they are worn by women of all ages and shapes. I think they’re here to stay. . . at least for a little while.
Basically, leggings are tight, form-fitting trousers (not tights!) that generally go from waist to ankle. You will find them made of lycra and any number of fabrics, from cotton to cashmere or silk. I picked up a beautiful pair of cashmere leggings in Paris, and while a bit of an indulgent purchase, have worn them a lot.
Here are 4 fashionable legging choices from the Los Angeles boutique of Ron Herman.

Grey pinstripe leggings, $98; Black zippered ankle leggings $108. Black leather leggings $1,668; Tuxedo leggings $85.
Are you wearing leggings?

I’m sick of leggings. They seem to be everywhere, on everyone…even people who should NEVER wear them. Last night, I saw someone at the gym working out in them. That was the last straw for me. THE GYM??? I’d rather see women wearing ratty shorts and their boyfriends t-shirt than freaking leggings at my gym.
Man if I had my figure from 10 years ago I’d be loving this. Why is it I was always ahead of the trend? hehe. But like Darcie I don’t want to see them at the gym. Isn’t that what sweats are for?
Leggings at the gym are just a bad Flashdance flash back!
What I don’t understand is how women in Paris, of all ages and sizes, wear leggings and look so pulled together and chic. Not once did I shake my head in a “fashion don’t” look. Under skirts and dresses, long tunics, etc. They looked great.
It’s all about getting leggings that fit, wearing them with the right tops (and it’s NOT a crop top!) and accessorizing to puI’m wll it all together.
I’m still working on it.
