4 Tips for Caring for Sunglasses

Though sunglasses are cute accessories, they’re also functional necessities. They protect our eyes from the sun’s harmful glare and help us to see when we’re driving or go about our business outdoors. I have a confession to make about sunglasses – I go through them like tissues because they’re constantly getting scratched or broken. I don’t intentionally set out to ruin a good pair of sunglasses but lots of times I just throw them in my purse or on the dashboard with nary a thought to their well-being.
You can avoid being a sunglasses slob like me by following a few care tips:
- When your sunglasses aren’t in use, store them in a hard case to avoid damage or scratching.
- Use non-abrasive cleaners and cleaning cloths to clean glasses. Your best bet are products sold at an eye care facility.
- Avoid storing your sunglasses in places that are too hot as this can cause the color to fade and frames to warp.
- Buy a small eyeglass repair set and periodically tighten screws.
