5 Tips for Looking Slimmer

Not all of look as thin as we’d like. Though we try to get to our ideal weight with diet and exercise, we can still give the illusion of looking thinner in the meantime. Here are a few things you can try to look slimmer while you lose the weight.

  1. Necklines with a boat neck will give a slimmer upper body appearance and make the neck and shoulder area look less broad.
  2. Dressing in one color gives one a more slender appearance. It gives the body a more fluid look and doesn’t draw as much attention to problem areas.
  3. Dark colors have a slimming effect. Black, Navy and dark gray are best.
  4. Wrap dresses and skirts give a thinner look, plus the eye is drawn to a side tie rather than a waste band.
  5. Don’t wear big clothes, they’ll only make you look bigger and frumpier. While baggy clothes really do hide the shape, they call more attention to it. By wearing more form fitting (not tight) clothes you’re minimizing your look.

  1. While boat necks are slimming overall, I’ve always thought of them as widening the shoulders — which is usually a good thing. And V-necks will actually make the neck look longer and therefore skinnier (though boat necks aren’t too bad for the neck, either).

    Other than that, everything is right on!
