When I worked in publishing, makeup artists packed Preparation-H in their beauty kits for models with puffy eyes. I’d never recommend hemorrhoid medication for reducing under eye puffiness, but there are a few fool proof remedies I’m happy to tell you about.
Behold, The List Maven’s 5 Tips for Reducing Puffiness Around the Eyes.
- Cold Compress – A cool washcloth will help to reduce minor swelling and puffiness. Simply wet a cloth, ring it out and place over your eyes for ten to fifteen minutes while you relax.
- Prop Your Head Up – If you’re going to sleep late or know you won’t be getting enough shut eye, place your head on several pillows when you go to bed. Propping your head will help to keep fluids from collecting under the eye lids.
- Cucumber Slices – It seems a cliche, but cucumber slices over the eye lids really do help to soothe tired eyes and reduce puffiness.
- Tea Bags – Wet tea bags with cool water. ring out and place over closed eyes. The tannins in the tea will help to keep swelling down.
- Avoid Salt – Eliminating salt from your diet will help keep swelling down – all over your body.
