Remember last year when Blair on Gossip Girl had that whole sequence of dreams where she was playing out scenes from Breakfast at Tiffany’s? Well, I was watching old reruns of the show this weekend and it got me thinking about this movie again – and all the amazing, iconic fashion found in this incredible film.

Naturally I then spent the rest of the afternoon watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s. For something like the fiftieth time.
So what does every girl need in their closet to bring to life a bit of Holly Golightly occasionally?
1. A trench coat. There really is no good reason not to have a good trench coat. This is the ideal seasonal change jacket, it goes with most everything, and it doesn’t mind getting wet should a sudden rain shower catch you by surprise.
2. Oversize sunglasses. I know the girls from The Hills and Paris Hilton kind of made these a bit of a Hollywood cliche. But you don’t need to have sunglasses that cover your entire face in order to give them a try. Just take your time and find large, dark sunglasses that suit your face shape.
3. Black cocktail dress. Not too revealing and able to work a business meeting or a fancy party all in the same day. This dress should serve you well for a few years and have a timeless shape/length/neckline.
4. Diamonds. I have little tiny diamond earrings that I wear everywhere, all the time. Every girl should have one piece of jewelry that is her very own ” best friend”. It doesn’t have to be a big statement neckace or tiara, but it sure could be…I wouldn’t complain!
5. Pearl Necklace. Another jewelry staple. Notice that most of the items we’re talking about are classic pieces…which leaves it up to the lady wearing them to bring the whole outfit to life.
6. Mink Bucket Hat. Okay, this one is less literal. For Holly, it was boho chic during the day. Maybe you aren’t ready to pull off an oversize mink bucket hat, but darn it…Holly did. And you’ll find your own mink bucket hat that suits you just fine and isn’t just like everyone else.

I LOVED Audrey Hepburn in this movie — she was so sophisticated, yet still hip. It was always hard for me to believe that the very quirky Truman Capote wrote this novel.
didn´t noticed the breakfast at tiffanys recaps – although i watched the whole season and loved – trenchcoat this is a MUSTHAVE – has ever been and alwys will be.
