6 Reasons To Check Out a Blow Dry Bar

Last night, I was in heaven. Okay, that might be a little bit of an exaggeration, but for a girl who usually has about ten minutes worth of patience for her hair on a daily basis…the kind of pampering I received at the new Blo Blow Dry Bar in Toronto (officially opening next week) was a serious treat.
I know you girls with the pin straight hair are raising your eyebrows and wondering why the heck someone would pay to have their hair blow dried if there wasn’t a haircut happening along with it. Well, not all of us are blessed with cooperative hair. Or time to try to placate said hair into shiny, pretty locks. I would be one of those people…which is why when my friend called me up and asked if I wouldn’t mind letting her blow dry my hair for practice, I hardly let her finish the question before saying “YES!”.
Still not convinced? Well, this is why I was delighted with the whole experience…and will be doing everything I can to squeeze semi-regular blow dry dates into my already pretty strapped “pampering” budget.
Time Savings
What a ‘bloer’ (yep, that’s the official title for your stylist!) can do in 20 minutes would usually take me an hour. And it would only look half as good. So, even though there’s a potential thirty minute subway ride there and back, I’ve still saved time in my day.
Damage Control
It’s not only time that I’m eating up when standing there trying to get my unruly hair to behave. The added heat styling can cause havoc…split ends, broken ends, dryness and and unhealthy looking lack of sheen.
Self Confidence
Who doesn’t feel better when their hair looks good? Just that one small change makes a world of difference when attending a meeting, going on a date or just hanging around in your house. It’s just such a nice boost to the day!
Style Variety
I have a hard time blow drying my hair one way…let alone mastering seven different techniques for different looks. And don’t even get me started on the hair stylists who insist on only straightening my hair with a flat iron when they are done…I have some curl, I need a little wave at the ends! The Holly Would do is perfect for me on a day-to-day basis, but I’m also tempted to try the Red Carpet for an night out.
Affordable Luxury
So I can’t afford a bunch of time in spas, at nail salons or getting expensive highlights. Who cares? I would rather indulge in a simple necessity like having pretty hair than going overboard on this kind of spending.
Learning Opps
I think I picked up one or two tricks with curling the ends and maintaining my bangs, which I’ll be sure to try at home too. I may never be able to master a round brush like they can, but I could sure use a few pointers on how to get the job done right with as little damage to my hair as possible.
