8 Reasons Not to Wait Till You’re Old to Wear Purple

I’ve always chuckled over the poem Warning by Jenny Joseph. The first line says, “When I’m an old woman I shall wear purple.” While I’m not an old woman. . . yet. . . her concept would fit in perfectly right now, with purple a hot trend for the coming fall.

Consider all the purple options that you have:
- Dresses – from elegant evening wear to sun dresses to business attire, purple makes a bold fashion statement.
- Skirts, pants, and top – these will let you mix and match when you don’t want to be decked out entirely in purple, and allow you to contrast colors demurely or boldly.
- Shoes – sandals, pumps, tennis shoes, and flip flops, you’ll find shoes to complement a purple outfit, or choose to jazz up a conservative look with a stunning pair of purple shoes.
- Jewelry – whether you choose precious gems like amethyst or opt for funky fashion jewelry, you can mix and match styles, textures, and shades to find something to complement your look.
- Scarves – combine a hot accessory with a hot color trend, and you’ll get a dynamite result.
- Hand bags – you’ve probably already seen a lot of day bags in rich purple colors, but don’t forget lighter shades, or smaller bags for evening.
- Make up – lots of eye shadow choices, but I think purple lipstick and blush looks a little garish.
- Lots more – socks, corsages, hair bands, clips, sunglasses, and everything else!
I have a purple bag, shoes, and a scarf, and have my eye on an amethyst pendant.
