Today is a very important day here in the U.S. It’s Tax Day. April 15th is the day when we all must have our incomes taxes filed and paid. Oh sure, you can go the extension route, drawing it out a few more months, but the check still needs to be sent today.
So what do you do after you’ve been all responsible and gotten your taxes taken care of for another year? Here are some suggestions:
- Have a glass of wine. It doesn’t have to be expensive to be good.
- Buy a piece of classic jewelry. You can always wear it to the audit.
- Buy a new perfume. It’s a relatively inexpensive splurge and will last long after the tax check clears the bank.
- Enhance your job promotion chances by buying a core wardrobe piece. While it’s not tax deductible, you can still think of it as an investment.
- Buy a Clarisonic and commit to fresh, healthy skin along with your commit to keep every single receipt from now on.
- Get a massage, and get that tax stress worked right out of your mind and body.
- Sleep on new bed linens. You’ll sleep like a baby knowing that you didn’t fudge one little bit on your taxes.
- Open a savings account, a retirement fund, invest in real estate, or start a portfolio, and commit to good fiscal responsibility in 2009!
