You really are what you eat. If you subsist on a greasy, fat-laden diet, your skin will bear the brunt. If you’re bad about hydrating, your skin will appear itchy and dry. If you eat nutrient and anti oxidant-rich foods,your skin will truly benefit. Here are some great foods for your skin.

  1. Water – OK. So it’s technically a liquid. Still, water is the healthiest thing you can consume for your skin. Plenty of water keeps skin hydrated, especially during the winter months. Keep your skin from looking dull and flaky by drinking lots of water!
  2. Low Fat Yogurt, Milk and Cheeses – Low fat dairy products are rich in Vitamin A which keeps the skin healthy. Moreover, many dairy products also contain the kind of bacteria and enzymes that keep your digestive organs running the way they should, and that’s a good thing for skin.
  3. Berries – Blueberries, strawberries and blackberries are high in antioxidants.
  4. Whole Grains - Whole grain pasta, rice and bread might not be as appealing as the white-floured variety, but the truth is they help prevent breakouts because they have lower levels of insulin.
  5. Fish – Fish contains the fatty oils that nourish and hydrate skin.
  6. Almonds and Hazelnuts – Both types of nuts contain Vitamin E which helps your skin achieve that healthy, dewy glow.
  7. Plums - Like berries, plus are high in antioxidants.
  8. Orange and Green Vegetables - Green veggies such as broccoli and spinach and orange veggies and squash such as carrots and sweet potatoes are rich in Vitamin A.
  9. Flaxseed or Flaxseed Oil - Flaxseed contains oils rich in Omega-Three fatty acids.
  10. Avocados – Avocados are rich in essential oils and B-Complexes.
