5 Fashionable TV Shows

5 Fashionable TV Shows

After researching, writing and reading about fashion, style and beauty you’d think I’d be sick of it. That couldn’t be further from the truth! I embrace anything and everything having to do with fashion, style and beauty and that translates very well to the shows that I watch and record (to savour again and again) on DVR.
Below are my top favourite fashionable TV shows – maybe we’ll share the same ones?
Gossip Girl
My guilty pleasure! I love Serena’s boho style and Blair is always channeling Audrey Hepburn. I can even appreciate Jenny’s edgy outfits. GG has helped me discover …read more

My 25 Favourite Fashionable Films

I love movies as much as I love fashion. Being a fashionista, I’m always drawn to characters with an amazing wardrobe. Some of the best movies are the ones that showcase beautiful clothing or the era’s current fashion and the character’s style. A character’s costume and overall look is very important in a movie as it helps ‘paints the picture’.
Here’s my personal list of fashionable movies, in no particular order:
500 Days of Summer (2009)
Marie Antoinette (2006)
Sense and Sensibility (1995)
Romeo and Juliet (1996 and 1968)
The Duchess (2008)
The Great Gatsby (1974)
The Notebook (2004)
Cruel Intentions (1999)
Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)
Clueless (1995)
Gone With the Wind …read more

33 Films of Patrick Swayze

Patrick Swayze died today, at the age of 57, of pancreatic cancer.  He was probably best known for his roles in Dirty Dancing and Ghost, but had a sizable list of film credits – even if they weren’t all as successful.
He also cut quite the handsome swath. both in his movie roles and in real life, and was People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 1991.
As a tribute to the hunky actor, here is filmology:

Skatetown, USA (1979)
Uncommon Valor (1983)
The Outsiders (1983)
Red Dawn (1984)
Grandview, USA (1984)
North and South (a 1985 mini-series)
Youngblood (1986)
North and South, Book II (a 1986 sequel to the mini-series)
Dirty Dancing …read more

My Top 10 Celeb Style Icons For 2009

The year isn’t even 3/4 of the way over, but I can’t help myself in reflecting back on who has made an impact on my own personal style and flair for fashion. There are some celebrities who can’t seem to walk out the front door without a stylist telling them they should tuck that strand of hair behind their ear. Then there are those who make it look all effortless – like being a fashion icon is as simple as sneezing or taking out the trash.

My preference is for those who fall into the effortless, sophisticated category. Not too done …read more

6 Reasons I Loved Anna Wintour On Letterman

Last night I was just about to shut my laptop when my husband said “Rach! You have to get in here – Anna Wintour is on Letterman.” Now, I don’t know that I’ve ever heard Anna Wintour speak for more than five seconds so this was of course serendipitous timing since my other work just happened to be done. I quickly went into the living room and settled in to see what this kind of interview would be like. Was I worried that she would be dry? Yes. Did I wonder if he might offend? Oh, absolutely. But what we …read more

And That’s the Way it is. . . Why I’ll Miss Walter Cronkite

Being a well-rounded fashionista means watching more than America’s Top Model and Project Runway.  Smart women are attractive women, something we sometimes forget in the mad dash to look chic.  And that’s why it’s important to watch the news and read the paper.  It’s as important to be in the know about finance and current events as it is about mascara and tulip skirts.
Today, one of my favorite newsman, Walter Cronkite, died.  He was 92 years of age.
I wasn’t the only one who loved “Uncle Walter.”  He was respected and honored by his peers, and trusted and beloved by …read more
