Spring Colors from Ellington Handbags

Are you looking for a new handbag for spring?
How about something in a bright, cheery shade – perfect for shaking off those winter blues?
Then you’re going to want to check out the new spring 2010 collection from Ellington Handbags.  They’re a small accessories design company based in Portland, Oregon.  Their latest collection features some great candy-colored shades (as well as more restrained options in black and neutrals as well) in their signature Italian leather.
Here are a few of my picks from their Spring 2010 collection:

Sweet Treats from Design AZ

Design AZ is the project of two jewelry designers who first met in school, but didn’t get a chance to work together until years later.   Zeynep Kudatgobilik and Alexandra Moosally create fine jewelry using 18kt gold, diamonds, precious and semi-precious stones.  Their designs are influenced by their Eastern heritage with a clean, modern edge.
And from now until February 19th, you can save 40% off their entire collection!  With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it seems fitting to take a sneak peak at the “Love” collection:

The Pave Diamond heart necklace features .24kt of pave diamonds in a 18kt rose gold …read more

Spring Neutrals : Cole Haan Ivory Satchel

Craving something sweet? How about a handbag in a yummy vanilla colour? If you’ve been on a search for a pretty neutral handbag to kick off the Spring season, check out this pretty satchel by Cole Haan.
The Cole Haan Prudence Top Handle Satchel ($398) is quite ladylike with the satchel frame and top handles which allow you to carry it on the crook of your arm.  The colour is Ivory and it will complement your Spring dresses and outfits quite nicely!
What initially caught my eye about this bag is the shape. I love satchel and this one is a good …read more

Victoria Beckham’s Sunglasses Line

With the Beckham powerhouse expanding further and further into American culture with fragrances, denim, and clothing it would only make sense that Victoria Beckham would now have her own line of luxury sunglasses.  Victoria’s glamorous look always includes fashionable oversized shades so it’s completely fitting that she would design sunglasses that would fit with her signature look.
Victoria Beckham Cat-eye-frame $430
These black oversized acetate frames are my favorite in the collection.  I like the skinny black frame paired with the dark blue gradient lenses.  Victoria incorporated her first initial in two places:  the V detail where the black and transparent acetate …read more

Ellington Handbags

Are you sick of designer handbags that everyone carries around? If so, you might want to look into picking up an undiscovered or indie brand of handbags. Ellington handbags is a cool line of contemporary handbags that are made by a small group of people based in Portland, Oregon.
They design handbags that are made to be taken everywhere with you, from the grocery store to the office to weekends adventures. They use fine leathers and fabrics and their designs are classic and stylish. One in particular caught my eye and it’s called the Sophia Hobo.

DVF Drop Temple Sunglasses

I wrote recently about wearing brooches, and now I find myself going gaga over drop-temple sunglasses.  Has Grandma chic officially taking over my brain?  Faded florals, gaudy brooches, doctor bags, crocheted fabrics, lace-up booties…these are all things that I negatively associated with white-haired ladies for most of my life and now I find myself drawn to these stylish elements.
For being a newcomer to the sunglasses market, of course Diane von Furstenberg is already making her way to the top with unique and cool designs that look great on women of all ages.

Weekend Etsy Picks

We’re getting pretty close to Valentine’s Day, so it seems appropriate to profile a designer who creates jewelry that features hearts!
Michelle Chang is a Brooklyn-based jewelry designer who creates clean, elegant designs using materials like silver and gold, accented with diamonds and semi-precious stones.  Her work is based on more than just hearts, but it’s almost Valentine’s Day, so let’s go for the sentimental choice…

“Double Heart” initial pendant in 14kt gold.  These wee little hearts (1/4″ and 3/8″ long) can be stamped with the initials of your choice and come on a 17″ necklace.

“Baby” heart necklace, made from a combination …read more

Made Her Think Skyline Ring

As an architect, it’s easy to get me excited about anything that brings fashion and building design together.  I love when designers of clothing, shoes, and jewelry are inspired by cities and buildings and incorporate theoretical ideas and images into their pieces.
Skyline Ring $92
I just discovered the most amazing ring from Made Her Think called the Skyline Ring.  This fun statement ring references the art deco buildings built in the 1930s in New York City with it’s tiered peaks and texture metal.  The ring comes in three different metal colors (Gunmetal, Brass Ox, and Silver Ox) with round Swarovski crystals.  …read more
