Field Notes From Paris: A Review

The latest fragrance is Ineke’s line of unisex alphabetical fragrances is Field Notes From Paris.  The fragrance was inspired by Ineke’s days in Paris and Versailles where she studied perfumery. “It captures the romantic, nostalgic feelings of sitting in a cafe and writing in a journal while lingering for hours over a cafe creme.”
The fragrance is a Woody Oriental and I recently had the opportunity to try a sample of it. It has the following notes:
Field Notes From Parish
$88 – 2.5 oz/75 ml
Top notes: Coriander Seed, Orange Flower, Bergamot
Middle notes: Tobacco Flower, Tobacco Leaf (Nicotiana), Cedar, Patchouli
Bottom notes: Amber, Tonka …read more

M.A.C. Fragrance: Asphalt Flower

M.A.C. is well known for their up-to-the-minute makeup line and looks. Were you aware that they have a fragrance line as well?  The newest fragrance is called Asphalt Flower and it’s part of their Trend Fall/Winter 2009 collection.
It’s a limited edition fragrance that M.A.C. describes as “deep, dark, and erotic.”  They wanted to create a complement to their “alt-fashion” look.  It sounds great with combination of floral notes and sexy notes. The name, Asphalt Flower, reminds me of a sort of urban femininity – the surprise of something warm and beautiful with a stark, cold backdrop.
Asphalt Flower
6ml/.2oz for $20

Demi Moore & All You’ve Ever Wanted

Demi Moore was the inspiration for Helena Rubinstein’s new fragrance, All You’ve Ever Wanted. The fragrance is  meant to be “the embodiment of magnetic sensuality.” Moore was chosen for her “daring appeal” and “her modern love story.”
The ad is gorgeous. Demi Moore is a beautiful and as a woman in my 40s, I feel like she’s a great role model for women my age. Not a very realistic one as far as looks go, but I do believe that she doesn’t let age hold her back from living life on her own terms. And she shouldn’t as 40 is still …read more

Breast Cancer Awareness: Windows Of Love

A few days ago, I wrote about Mariah Carey’s Forever Eau de Parfum that ULTA is carrying. A percentage of the sale of Forever directly benefits Breast Cancer research. Today, I want to tell you a little bit about their Windows of Love program. During the month of October the windows of ULTA stores will carry the personal messages of women who have been affected by Breast Cancer – survivors, family members, friends.
“As a company dedicated to empowering women, breast cancer awareness month holds a particular significance for all of us at ULTA and is the Inspiration behind our WINDOWS …read more

Breast Cancer Awareness: Venus Embrace

All three of us – my two daughters and myself – use the Venus Embrace razor. We like the moisture strips, the way they make a protective barrier on the skin when you shave.  I believe it’s a safe choice for a new-shaver, like my youngest daughter, Sarah, to use.

I was sent a Special Edition Venus Embrace of the shaver in pink – pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As usual, I love the razor.
The purpose of the pink razor is to remind you to conduct monthly self-breast exams in the shower. Why the shower?  Well, it’s the easiest place …read more
