I recognized the dress Katherine wore to be from Alice + Olivia.  I think it’s a perfect little black (and white!) dress to wear to the show. It’s playful yet still dressed up and perfect for a party because of the sequined bodice.

The Alice + Olivia Sequin Strapless Dress is nicely priced at $595. Although still a bit high price-wise, it’s a fantastic dress that will be appropriate for many events and parties. It can be worn simply as Katherine did with a pair of black heels or black ankle booties and tights. Throw a little red into the mix and you’re golden.

Alice + Oliva Sequin Dress Shines at 2009 AMAs

JLo sang about her Christian Louboutin shoes (maybe an updated version of ‘These Boots Are Made for Walking‘?) and if you’re looking for a luxury gift idea for that lucky Cinderella, these Loubous would make a fabulous choice!

Jennifer Lopez Loves Christian Louboutin

One of my favourite places to pick up new candles for my home and as gifts for others is Anthropologie. They have a fantastic selection and each one is like a piece of art!

Grand Tour Candle Tin ($40) – This beautifully designed candle tin is available in Cranberry Spice (cranberries, dried tea leaves, eucalyptus, cedar and vanilla), Tobacco Leaf (tobacco, violet, chai, vanilla and cinnamon) and Oriental Orchid (orchid, jasmine, sandalwood, patchouli and musk).  Each tin is decorated to complement the scent and them it’s named for.  This is a large candle at 4″ Dia x 4.5″ H so it will last quite a long time.

Plenty by Tracy Reese Candle ($40) – A pretty ‘designer’ boxed candle available in three scents; Big Blooms (casablanca lilies, jasmine and ginger flowers), Suthur Bazaar (turkish dates, fig leaves and basmati rice) and Blithe Spirit (tomato leaves, red grapefruit and lemongrass). This is also a large candle at 4″ diameter with a 40 hour burn time! These candles are so chic and the box can be a keepsake for all your little trinkets!

English Eccentrics Candle ($36) – If you’re looking for a set of candles with a little bit of a clever twist, these are the ones to get!  The designs are quirky and playful. These are available in four varieties; Tea with the Queen (violets and darjeeling tea), Wintergarden (fig, pomegranate and lilies), Eccentricity (green grass, bergamot, herbs and leather) and Enchanted Forest (smoky cedar, birch and amber).  Each one is 3″ Dia x 3.75″H with a 60 hour burn time.

What I love most about these candles is each one looks as if you’ve had them for years, they’re wonderful show pieces and pretty knick knacks to display around your home. And of course, they all smell quite wonderful!

Once you set up Jack Cards, by adding important dates and contacts (you can even sync it to your Facebook account!), you’ll never have to worry about missing a special date or holiday because it keeps track of all that for you. Jack Cards will deliver a pre-scheduled, pre-stamped and pre-addressed greeting card to you to write your personal thoughts and message. All you have to do after you’ve written your message is drop it off the nearest mailbox (or do what some people do – flag down the mailperson! )!

What’s great a about this service is you can pick out the card designs beforehand (like now) and just fill it out when the time comes.  Simple right?  There’s no more of that standing in front of a wall of greeting cards, opening and reading each one only to put it back and look for another. On the Jack Cards website, you can select different themes, categories, holidays and celebrations and it’s user friendly.

Now, I’m sure you’re thinking, “What the catch?” Well there isn’t one. Really!  Membership is free. Their greeting cards start at $2.45 and shipping rate is $.49 per card (same price as a stamp!). And if you spend $50 or more on their greeting cards and standard shipping is free within the US!  If you want to send out a card international, as I’m sure a lot of people will want to do during the holidays, their shipping rate is only $1.90 per card.
