As much of the United States digs out of the massive snowstorm of this weekend others are gearing up for February rainstorms. I love rain. I have a collection of rain boots that date back to early 2007 and my college years. With the end of the skinny jean trend and the boot trend nowhere in sight, I might as well continue to embrace my love for the rain boot. That’s why I am all for these Stuart Weitzman Puddles Rain Boots.
They have a removal insole with a shaft height of 11 inches which make them a great alternative to …read more
Elie Tahari Retrospective: Fall/Winter 2010

Elie Tahari is known for his professional classic pieces. Fall 2010 was no different. Tahari’s collection, much like many of the other collections we saw on the runway last year, was filled with purples, blues, and greens. Tahari said of the collection, “My fall 2010 collection is homage to the great women who traveled the globe in style.” You can definitely see bits and pieces of the globetrotting fashionista throughout the Fall Winter 2010 collection. With high waisted pants, great blazers and coats, and tights the collection was classic Tahari.
Hopefully, with the color of depression fading, we will see a …read more
MARC by Marc Jacobs Classic Brown Hobo

I’m on the hunt for a new brown handbag. Much like the hunt for a boots, the effort has been fruitless in the real world and I have had to turn to the virtual world.
I guess I am pretty picky with my bags, as I have come across a few bags, but none have met my specifications. My new brown bag needs to be big enough to fit my everyday essentials (lotions, a planner, cell phone, wallet, etc), but not so big that it looks like I’m carrying a suitcase everywhere I’m going. And the hardware cannot, I repeat, cannot …read more
My Fashion Subconscious and the Boot Trend

Last year I gave in to the skinny jean. This year, I have given in to the boot over the skinny jean. It’s been a long time coming, lots of magazines and friends, random people on the street and even more pushing and pulling between the good and bad fashion subconsciouses.
The trendy part of my subconscious flips back and forth between good and bad. The boot look was leaning towards the good in late January, however, this week it finally came all the way over to the good side. However, my good side has bad timing. You would think that …read more
Project Runway and the Bluefly Wall

One of my absolute favorite parts of Project Runway has to be the very end of challenge where Tim Gunn says, “And for the accessories go ahead and use the Bluefly.com accessories wall.” How amazing would it be to have all those luxurious pieces at your finger tips all day? I don’t think I would get much, if anything, done if I had that accessory wall at my beck and call every single day. I would probably play dress up all day (or at least attempt to).
I have to admit, I did not watch the original airing of this week’s …read more
The Best of NYFW Fall/Winter 2010

As I continue on my flashback to 2009 I am solemnly reminded that many of the runway shows of Fall//Winter 2010 were inspired by the depressive spirit that enveloped the world. However, as we jump forward to Fall/Winter 2011 I am looking forward to a bit more hope and feeling of success from designers. I’m going to have to wait for those collections, but while I’m waiting why not go back to 2009 and look at a few of the highs of Fall/Winter 2009 and what is, most likely, on sale at the moment.

Tracy Reese Flashback: Fall/Winter 2010

As we count down the days until Fashion Week starts I love taking a look back on past collections to see what exactly we can expect for upcoming shows. Tracy Reese has always been known for her feminine touch and classic lines. Last Fall/Winter collection I admired the ruffles, colors and fur.
Reese described the inspiration for her collection last season as, “an eclectic mix of urban and rural style makes for a very modern yet infinitely wearable fall 2010 collection. Rustic Prince of Wales checks, distressed faux fur and stretch suede styles are softened by cosmetic toned lingerie and made …read more

As a sneak peak for all my readers, I have a few sketches of what we will …read more
As Ungaro Turns: Madison Ave. Store Gone?

First butt cheek dresses, then the loss of distributors and now the closure of a big name boutique? What in the world is next for the soap opera that is Lindsay Lohan, Creative Advisor for Emmanuel Ungaro?
According to the Awl, the Madison Ave. store, one of only two locations where you can purchase Ungarro at the moment, is set to close their doors on February 27, 2010. A voicemail left by a Madison Ave. employee states, “Unfortunately,” the leaver of the voicemail said, “um, we’re actually going to be closing our doors February 27th, so I wanted to invite …read more
