Monif C. Goes Rainbow

This Tina dress from Monif C. is one of the best pieces I’ve seen on the site! It’s a really simple tank dress, so it’s comfortable and easy to style, but it also features curved seam detailing to show off your shape. The pink, red, purple, and gold will look great with a basic pair of pumps and a clutch.
One slight problem. . . it’s a one-size-fits-all deal that supposedly fits sizes 14-24. That’s an interesting concept, but I’d probably feel best if I were a solid 18/20 so I knew it would fit well, and not far on one end of the spectrum. Nobody likes a shapeless tank dress!

Pretty Plus Maxi Dress Up to 24

There’s nothing like a gorgeous maxi to get you sighing away! This pretty plus dress in a romantic color combo doesn’t have anything “plus” about it, and since it’s available up to 24, a lot of us can take advantage of this style that looks like something we wouldn’t be able to get in our size. It’s available right now at Nordstrom, and even if you don’t like it, you might be a fan of some of their other plus-size friendly selections.
I’m thinking loose curls and jeweled sandals with this one. . . what do you think?

SWAK Carries Plus Workout Clothes
June 30, 2009 by Meieli Detoni

It’s hard to find good workout clothes for plus-size women, especially after size 6X. When I was checking out SWAK Designs today, I saw that they had added workout clothes to their new arrivals section in true plus extended sizes (up to 6X). They do run a little small, so I would size up, but you might be pleased about having something new, stylish, and active in your closet! I know I am. They come in black and grey, and the have a full-length version, too.

I like these Zen pants (up to 6X), but you can also grab a hoodie.
Missphit Does a Great Plaid

Missphit has been pumping out some great plaid in their most recent collections, including the likes of this gorgeous tunic! A bold buffalo print is set off by a great wide belt, and it has an even scoop front and back that makes it extra special. Available in sizes 1-3X, it’s also done in a couple colors that are as bright as they are stylish.
I can’t decide which I like better, though: this scoop-neck top or the more frilly plaid dress. Erg, I just want all the plaid, please! I’m ready to stock up this season, and from what I can see, Missphit is up to do the supplying.

Sundress Up to Size 20

Choosing a plus-size dress isn’t easy when you’re going to the same old sites again and again. . . that’s why I like to use ShopStyle from time to time to mix things up! Today I jumped on there to check what was going on, and I found this simple sundress up to size 20 in plum and black.
Ahhh. . . so gorgeous, so simple! If you’re a cover-up junkie like me, you can slip all sorts of shawls and shrugs on over this one, or knot a plain white button-down on over the basic bodice for a bit of oomph. Play around with it; you’ll be glad you did. I don’t mind breaking a “plus-size rule” (spaghetti straps) if I can be comfy while doing it.

Something I Shouldn’t Enjoy.. But Do!

Some shirts might not have been made for showing off, but when you like something, you like something, you know? I love this floral top from Liz Claiborne, which is as cheerful as it is acid-bright. I’m thinking that this might not be the most flattering item on me, but it should work at the gym, if nothing else. It’s tagless, cotton/poly, and machine washable, and it goes up to size 3X. At 24.99 on sale, it’s not like I have much to lose, either.

Liz Claiborne Loves Juicy Summer Brights

Liz Claiborne specializes in addictive brights, it seems! I took a peek at the website, and it’s definitely dangerous for the girl who happens to be seduced by paint-box hues (that’s me, btw!). If you are looking for something really cool, head over there, where tops are much more inspired than we’re used to seeing.
This tangerine and lemon top is made from a stretchy cotton blend and has a self belt and a button placket. What can I say? I’m a sucker for the bib-front tops!

It also comes in blue, if you prefer.
Huge Plus “No”

Wow. I caught this halter over at Torrid. . . shall we list off all the reasons why this Whole Lotta Look should never touch the plus frame? Here goes!
1. One of the splotches is directly over the bust, which looks really awkward and unflattering.
2. The color combination is questionable at best.
3. All that ruffle does down the front is add pounds.
4. Super slim straps on a halter top can be a pain to wear.
5. The tube shape is not flattering to any body type.
Any other reasons out there? Yikes!

Waiting on an Igigi Exchange

I had the most insane shipping related plus-size shopping week on the planet. Not only do I have residual returns issues still popping up, but I had a crushed FedEx package and now a mysterious disappearing exchanged item.
I sent back an Igigi dress that didn’t fit well, and now I’ve been waiting for it to arrive in San Fran to be processed. A week after sending it Priority, I’m feeling a little jumpy. I’d love to have everything wrap up neatly, but I’m not counting on it until I hear back that the box has arrived.
This is a very good reason for companies to include return shopping labels with their orders! Tracking number, preferred shipping method, and address built right in!

Check out this gorgeous little number I found when I was actually reviewing their exchange info. . .
I Love This Swimsuit (4X Only)

Isn’t this swimsuit to die for? Unfortunately, I just found it in the sales section, which means that 4X girls will get some stylish solutions, but not me! This gorgeous halter-top number has some great red straps that arc backwards in a cool design and a dark navy ground to minimize lumps and bumps. I love the fact that the underwire doesn’t make it look like a support garment (small feat right there!), and it even has ruching details. Adore!
The same style is also available in other colors, so have a look and let me know if you’d wear this suit. Sigh. I really feel like I missed my chance with this one.
