You might find something that will go with your wedding style. The other bonus is it may cost less than a custom ordered bridesmaids dress, especially if you catch your dresses on sale at the end of the season.

Cocktail and holiday dresses can work great for a less formal or destination wedding. Your bridesmaids will probably appreciate a lower cost dress that they can wear again, and if you can find dresses that will fit your weddings style and color scheme it will be one less thing you have to worry about.

If the store you’re in doesn’t have all the dress sizes you need you can have them check other stores, or check online to see if you’ll be able to find dresses to fit all of your brides maids. If you only have a couple brides maids it’s less of a concern than if you have a half a dozen or more maids.

Whether it’s a splash of color, or the whole gown. I honestly don’t think white is a good color for most brides. I worked in a bridal shop for several years, and most brides looked better in ivory or champaigne dresses than they looked in white.

There are some brides that do look great in white, and I know it’s a tradition. But did you know it’s a tradition that was started relatively recently? Actually throughout history brides wore brightly colored wedding gowns, to reflect their status. White wedding gowns didn’t become the “tradition” until the mid-1800’s.

So if someone tells you not to pick out a colored wedding gown because it’s not traditional, point them in the direction of the history book.

Personalized Gifts For Your Bridesmaids

I’m seeing some different necklines lately, the strapless gown has been the thing for several years now. I think this year we’re seeing some different necklines, including one shoulder gowns, and v-necks (my favorite).

I think we’ll also see more short wedding gowns. With more and more brides opting for a destination wedding. They’re also looking for gowns that are not fussy and can travel easily.

The last couple years I’ve been seeing more ruffled and tiered tulle skirts on wedding gowns.  From the gowns I’ve seen lately, I think that will continue into 2010, for those bride princesses out there.

Red is a wonderful color to go with during the Christmas season if you want to stick with the traditional, and you want to capitalize on the spirit of Christmas.

You can even add a splash of red to your wedding gown. You can add a red sash or a belt around the middle.

Go with some red embroidery on the train or bodice of your wedding gown.

Red bows, inserts or trim can also add a splash of color to your dress. Or if you want to be a little more dramatic, go for a red train, or underskirt.

You don’t even have to add the red to your dress. This time of the year you can add a cape or cover-up  to your wedding day look with a touch of red in the stitching or trim.
